You DO KNOW the original is over THIRTY YEARS OLD... this isn't anything brand new. Spike Lee started his entire film career off this. So I doubt the themes and messages back then are any more different than today. Even if you do disagree with them.

8 episodes in and so far Y’all have pretty much summed up everything I think about this show

Nola= is full of shyt
Jamie = stage 5 clinger
Mars = the corniest nikka ever
And the French nikka is the shallowest corny nikka ever

Her friends are bougie and I don’t feel sorry for the dumb low self esteem one that got but shots. That shyt was wack before the accident

All in all she is entertained by them corny nikkas and is too greedy and selfish to commit to either. Atleast the one girl kept it 100.

Eh, I get that it came off unrealistic but ya'll are being a little harsh. It's heavily implied that Greer is still fukking many other women while messing with Nola. I think she says it to him at some point and at the beginning of their date you see the various women he's smashed. But because of Greer's narcissism he sees Nola as more of a challenge since she's not enamored with him like his other hoes so that's why he pursues her more. It's less of a "I'm in love with this chick" and more of a " How come this bytch ain't in love with me? Let me investigate" type thing with him. I've seen it happen with a lot of womanizers who are used to chicks worshipping them. They're more intrigued by the chicks who treat them as disposable and aren't head over heels for them. To them it's the ultimate challenge, regardless of how bad she is.

With Jamie, Nola is an escape from his wife. It's more about what she represents to him than what she truly is

Mars has hoes but most of them are likely on some bummy shyt so to a dude like him Nola will come across more "sophisticated" and interesting

Basically the characters and dynamics are a bit more complex than ya'll are giving it credit for. The initial premise seems unrealistic but if you pay attention to the characters it makes sense why all of them would be drawn to Nola

That’s a reach but I guess if you look at it that way. The show made it look like they were all in love with her despite knowing they shared that girl. At the end of the day them dudes allowed that shyt to happen and contributed to her feeling herself enough to try that shyt at thanksgiving

The last episode really turned me off to this chick. She basically put her pimp hand down and told them dudes to get in line or go home. It was like she was bragging and taunting them like, yea if you want to fukk me then it’s going to be on my terms and when I say so. I also hated how she shytted on her friends for helping her struggling broke ass in episode 9. How rude and ungrateful

I had to turn off the thanksgiving episode. Women would throw a fit in the same scenario if a dude invited all his jumpoffs over to a dinner and didn’t warn them ahead of time. And I’m supposed to pretend like “B-b-but if she was a man” is a valid excuse

Exactly no matter what her intentions were that was mad disrespectful to not warn them. They could have shot her place up just because of the surprise. She sloppy

this was hard to finish. there was just too much BS that just made it come off as a fairy tale that rubbed me the wrong way: like the ending, jamie's check bouncing and her response to it and her judging ppl but being a fukked up person and ungrateful and delusional.

the biggest thing is the main character and three guys were hard to like as well.

Nah. If it looked like either of them were in a place of settling down it would. Nola can’t make rent and he’s some kind of photographer.

A photographer making enough scratch as him would be taking jobs all over or selling stuff wherever he can

Like I said, the show is outdated in its approach which gives all the interactions a false sheen of Nola being some “goddess”

Jamie and Mars both have more fully fleshed out personalities to see why they would be in her orbit

He was sleeping with mad other chicks, they made this abundantly clear (much clearer than Spike made it in the movie). And he didn't need Tinder to do it, he's a model/photographer, he was swimming in p*ssy lol

Being enamored with Nola was clearly about more than just sex tho.
