when the Spot was giving his backstory in the start - we see the radioactive spider form earth 42 - still on earth 42 - and it was lurking around Miles

this was before it jumped to our Miles's universe. Now, one could argue that was just for dramatic effect or that it was going to ignore Miles - but seeing how deliberate this movie and it's predecessor have been with all their frames - I think the most likely explanation is that the spider was going to bite earth 42 Miles, thus he was going to be Spidey anyway. Not an anomaly.

Hence....2099 is an unreliable narrator

Yup. In truth, the subtle/clever writing is going over people's heads in this thread but whatever lol

To spell it out: The directors flat out said in an interview that Miguel and his views ("") on Miles are intentional social commentary on the "fans" who don't believe Miles belongs as Spider-Man.

Think about it, at one point in the film Miguel flat out loses it and goes straight st0rmfr0nt nerd rage telling Miles he basically just a nygga on an unsanctioned affirmative action plan!

Far as our current Miles he doesn't become Spider-Man and may in fact become a powler variant. His colors in Into the Spiderverse were green and purple same as the Prowler colors.

Yes, it's the same radioactive spider - there's no reason to assume he wouldn't get the same powers.

Current Miles would likely have his own canon event to turn him into spider-man/prowler later down the line

So um, this is one of my favorite movies. Like, not of the year or anything - I mean all time.

Yea i don't know what my top 10 movies are, but i know this is in my top 5

7 years ago i thought it'd be T'Challa in this position delivering this level of GOATness.

20 years ago i thought for sure John Stewart would've long been the one, he was further along than BP at the time (JLU)

25 years ago Blade was further along than both of them after the '98 movie + Wesley

But so much disappointment and sabotage or unfortunate derailments for all 3 black heroes.

Hence why part of me was so satisfied but emotionally drained after watching AtSV, bc i couldn't stop thinkin back to my 10-year old self and how he would've loved this movie franchise and everything about Miles... the games, the action figures, the comics, the Halloween costumes, etc.

It's bitter sweet that it took 27 years later and i'm a bit too old to enjoy it the way i would've as an impressionable kid but i'm just happy the movie was made and i could turn back time for those couple hours. I truly love this movie.

The thing that is going to continue to set miles apart from peter is that he’s a new character with his own set of rogues and he has his own power set and culture. There’s just so many ways you can expand the story and lore of spider-man with miles that they could with peter. They pretty much ran the entire gamut with peter as a character, just like batman.

If anything miles existing gives them a reason to keep peter older, a family, instead of constantly de-aging him again. They’ve tried making a batman replacement so many times over the years and they never stick, night wing, terry, Damian, etc. far harder nut to crack

You forgot about Jean Paul Valley aka Azrael.

Miles is a household name now and the studios are gonna want to capitalize on that once this trilogy is over.

Honestly, why not at this point. We’ve already been through countless adaptations for Pete.

Breh thinks a studio that made 2 Venom movies, a Morbius movie and a Kraven movie and is said to be working on an Aunt May movie will pass on the opportunity to make a live action Miles movie
