Depends, when it was proposed back in the 2000s it was estimated to take 20 years complete. Considering road blocks it may have added 10 years but interstate rails would have been completed in 10 -15 years.

Now we have newer technology and construction materials to speed up development. The only reason it’s development slowed is the typical bs.

Lawsuits from landowners or from people who want to slow progress.

In certain cases government would need to pull eminent domain. A cross country rail link should be seen as vital for our security and for goods transportation.

But shyt we can't even properly hire and treat our current rail workers and do right by them I know I'm talm pipe dreams.

Half of the people have it right (an old outdated system), half of the people think we’re one of the worst airlines (far from it) and as an employee we’re lowkey amused this to a degree because we’ve known something like this was bound to happen. Facts, Texas Highspeed Rail just won a lawsuit of eminent domain use against Dallas farmers/owners this year.

They kicked off millions native Americans off their land, displaced thousands of black families in low income housing and ever since I heard about that black family that owned a beach way back, it’s been fukk every entitled farmer. They ain’t doing nothing but sitting on land and slowing down progress.

People making fun of Southwest got it all wrong. I have status with multiple airlines but I exclusively flew Southwest for 7 years for anything west of Denver.

I used it practically as a bus going from John Wayne to SFO 3 times a week. Back and fourth in the same day.

I couldn’t imagine being able to do that without pure exhaustion with any other airline. No nonsense boarding. Show up 30 min before your flight and go. Friction free experience. Probably helped that I had A List Preferred (and companion pass).

I’m American Airlnes Saphire and I still miss the hell out of the convenience of Southwest. Anyone comparing southwest to spirit probably only been on a plane to go to Miami with their boys that one time 5 years ago and has no fukking clue what they are talking about.
