it's all consistency really

shyt when i was in the army i could run 10k in around 45 minutes without killing myself

today I'm :flabbynsick: after 15 minutes on the treadmill at 6.5 mph

I gotta pace myself.

Just like riding the indoor bike for 3-6 hours then actually going outside and already having the ability to a: sit on a bike for 3-6 hours, b: pedal consistently for 3-6 hours makes a huge difference.

I definitely feel there are pacing issues and stride issues with a treadmill that'll resolve itself when I just start running around my neighborhood.

In real life you can run then go to a jog within two steps. On a treadmill if I need make any changes to pace/speed..it's gradual. Very gradual. And one of the things we used to do during track and cross country was jog for 2 mins at a good pace, sprint for 15-30 seconds, jog, sprint, etc. I can't do that on the treadmill because when I change the speed it's so gradual. On the streets of I want to dead stop, wipe my brow with a towel, sprint for a few yard then jog, I could.

No Whammies!!
You ever do HITT? Run light for a minute, then hard for a minute then light, etc? That burns more calories and is a better overall workout than staying stagnant at one heart rate which is topically what I do.

I do a lot of trail running on hills, which kind of acts the same way.

E.g I took off Monday this week and did this:

I know of a cat that literally had no choice but to walk 9 miles to work 5 days a week. Whether he walked, jogged or ran he did it. :yeshrug: Im never going to sprint it. But ill either jog or run it.

The best part about being outside is when I get 3 miles out..I still gotta go back 3+ miles.
I like that about biking too. Ride out until I get too tired then have to go back.

Ok.

Today was much better for the run. I don't know how I paced myself but I did. I cranked the speed up slowly then when I felt myself stomping down I increased it more. As my body warmed up, got more loose and my stride got larger and I started stomping again I would just increase the speed.

I think what happened yesterday was I got on then cranked that bytch and burned out.

I ran to 5 easy. At about 11-12 mins I was good. No runners high but I couldn't feel my legs, no pain was just cruising along.

I don't know what happened at 5 miles but the top of my calf below the back of my knee got tight. I kept going and eventually that went away.

Other than that no complaints on the run.

I did the pushups after my run. That mightve been a mistake did 40 (30 second rest) 35, (120 second rest) 20, (20 second rest) then 5.

Sit ups were good. Getting better at those. 5 sets of 20 with 30 second rest in between. What's Killin me about those is breathing. It's weird breathing in through your nose while moving backwards and squeezing your stomach in.

Squats were easy. My legs don't even begin to burn until 75. The last 25 are cake.

Oh yea and running on a treadmill is still boring as shyt, but then again I'm watching the clock tick and the distance plus pace setting cycle through and through.

Damn the difference 36hours makes is incredible.

After yesterday's run, I had to mow the front yard, clean out the garage...I was tired and limping by the end of the night. 8 hours of sleep, more mowing... chilling did a night run on the treadmill, body feeling refreshed.

what are you trying to gain from doing this?

Just pushing myself in another way. Seeing how much I can take.

Just like with running. I was good at it, I grew up in track and what not and for me its boring, it's not fun. It isn't difficult, but it's boring. I'm not one to make excuses so for me to sit around and just not run because I don't like it or its boring isn't something I'm willing to accept.

shyt maybe I'll end up running a marathon in my 40's I have no idea. But whether im doing 100's of pushups, riding hundreds of miles, running, boxing, squats, jumping rope whatever I do to stay active until I identify what my limits are I'm not just gonna not do things or make excuses.

I see people do accomplish things and I wonder can I don't that? Why or why not? Often it's just about not dedicating time and effort which over a lifetime isn't a lot. Things get easier with time. The body adapts.

Ran 6.2 this morning, outside. No struggles. I'm not going to run tomorrow but hit the treadmill Wednesday and see how it feels. Then take Thursday off from running and try Friday outside and see how that feels.

Watched a CT fletcher video

Scared the shyt out of me. At the very very beginning of the video he says "I used to do 100 pushups easily, now I can't do 1."

I don't want to end up like that.
