The industry is pushing people to buy less games, and rather just buy certain kinds of games and just spend money on them. Twitch grows yearly and that's been the go-to place for people to watch others play.

A lot of kids in particular that I know personally only play a handful of games and watch streamers play other games. I'm sure they aren't the only ones.

Playstation has a couple of specific issues like PS+ MAU stagnating - the new PS tiers should help with that significantly - and the hardware supply which is out of their control.

Ultimately, Playstation revenue is down 2%. The big dogs will be fine - the likes of Ubisoft on the other hand.

I don’t think PS+ reboot will really help with MAU, i think thats the ceiling for console gaming. Which is why sony is doing the tiered gaming system to begin with, so they can earn more money per user instead of just trying to get more users.


It looks like that worked because sales in services are up, but the user base hasn’t really increased. Thats why Microsoft is offering gamepass/xcloud on TV’s and PC’s because they know consoles have a low ceiling, especially their consoles. Which is still flawed but thats how they’re selling it

Its like this. I feel like most folks are going the mobile route as it is more accessible and you can easily buy whatever the hell whether it be cosmetics or progression. Technically, we are paying for glorified F2P games with better graphics and etc. Hell, with how GT7 was handled, this is where the industry is heading. Soon, folks are just going to play video games with MMO tactics on some subscription will get you A to Z. There's no money in single player games, Sony is obtuse with how to tackle this crazy generation of gaming, Microsoft gets it but doesn't get it, Nintendo is eating regardless because "fukk you", PC gaming gang can finally buy gpus just to be in backlog hell, and greedy companies will continue to treat gamers like a snuff porn.
