Wishful thinking, whole purpose of this purchase is gamepass which needs exclusive content. Unlike netflix they want to kill competition in that space, they want to be the defacto sub where netflix failed and allowed content providers to jump in easily.

Two different types of games from two different eras lol

No its not, they’re both big WRPG’s. All those open world quest systems were pretty much perfected in witcher. Witcher 2 came out the same year as skyrim

Witcher 3 came out in 2015 skyrim 2011, two totally different types of games doing two different things from two totally different gaming eras like i said. You gotta get out your fanboy bag

They have more similarities than differences. Witcher 3 pretty much perfected the open world fantasy rpg genre. The only major difference is the witcher has a more of a set story and characters.

If people can compare horizon zero dawn to breath of the wild, or Cyberpunk to GTA, I’m 100% gonna compare witcher series and elder scrolls

Call of Duty as in the annual releases, will not be on a playstation platform if Gamepass isn't there. Everything that Phil says and Microsoft does is with Gamepass as the focus.

There isn't anyone on this board wondering if Wolverine is going to be on anything but a Ps5. If Sony wanted to maximize sales, it'd be on everything but it won't be. Why? How does that help Ps5 adoption if that game is on other platforms. To Microsoft, Gamepass is the platform. Xbox series consoles, phones, tablets, xcloud, computers are just vehicles to get you there.

Minecraft is a different case because of the reach. Merchandising, toys, clothes, movie etc.. Think about it, the first time most of our kids played Minecraft was likely on OUR devices. Keep getting the newer generations hooked on Minecraft. Rinse and repeat.

Don't be so caught up in the short term. Microsoft is going to make that 70 billion back by the time this deal closes next year. This is a 20-30 year, play the long game move. A Call of Duty that also exists on other platforms outside of Warzone does not offer maximum benefit to Gamepass. That's why all the new Bethesda stuff will be exclusive. It doesn't offer the the greatest value proposition for Gamepass if it can be played elsewhere, outside of the Microsoft ecosystem.

I’m not holding out for anything… i was never into Skyrim like that. Witcher 3 pretty much came and crushed buildings… I couldn’t look at bethesda games the same after that.

I just don’t think the priority for microsoft is to sell boxed consoles. You don’t spend 100b on acquisitions just to sell consoles

Exactly they are doing this too strong arm gamepass onto other platforms at the end of the day.

The irony is the people caught up in short term are thinking about this buyout as some exclusive utopia. Thats not what this is gonna end up as

Sony does exclusives to sell consoles, microsoft isn’t spending all this money to sell consoles. Sony is still acting as a games company, microsoft is approaching this as a tech company that wants to expand its reach in cloud

Yes, through proliferation of Gamepass. It is on record that Microsoft has reached out to both Nintendo and Sony twice regarding it. To them, the Sony and Nintendo consoles are just another vehicle for getting to Gamepass but through Gamepass is how they will achieve their goals of the cloud.

I'm telling you right now Xbox isn't going to take the Big L on Digital Sales and Physical Sales. The Call of Duty Franchise is a bigger beast than all those bullshyt bethesda games. Only way Call of Duty won't see playstaion consoles is if gamepass is so lucrative that they don't need to. At the same time I don't think it stops them from putting exclusive content for Call of duty to entice more people to gamepass. Either way because of this deal they will get more gamepass subs regardless if they still release it on Playstation consoles.

Not only that but they still have to spend money on top of the money they already paid developing those games. It’s gonna cost a lot of money to run 33 mega studios on an annual basis, market gamepass, and development cost and still put those titles on a 10 dollar service.

If they don’t put those games on playstation they are upping the price of their services 10 fold

There upping the price regardless now with Call of duty. But I agree buying developers and Buying Publishers are two different things. Sure they will probably be some exclusives from some of the developers but best believer there will be some Bethesda titles and Activision on Sony Consoles.

look at PC Microsoft still realeses there games on steam and they still have game pass on there.

And they will be fine with that. There's just going to be gaming TVs and streaming boxes that run Gamepass. Why continue to pay the overhead and lose money on making and selling hardware when they have the resources to make game streaming a reality?

:jbhmm:
They need to get to 4k 60 streaming like Netflix and I'll cop a gametrash subscription.

Microsoft is about control and hardware provides a way consumers actually still control their product. With gamepass you ain't gaming without paying which seems like an easier base to exploit and make money from. Trophy's and user profiles tied to an online only account. Gamers are food

Breh what are you talking about? Those games are all gonna be on gamespass day one. It’s actually smart what Xbox is doing, gamespass is really gonna be Netflix of gaming with a dope variety of games. Yeah not all are 10/10 but its going to be impressive
