Call of Duty as in the annual releases, will not be on a playstation platform if Gamepass isn't there. Everything that Phil says and Microsoft does is with Gamepass as the focus.
There isn't anyone on this board wondering if Wolverine is going to be on anything but a Ps5. If Sony wanted to maximize sales, it'd be on everything but it won't be. Why? How does that help Ps5 adoption if that game is on other platforms. To Microsoft, Gamepass is the platform. Xbox series consoles, phones, tablets, xcloud, computers are just vehicles to get you there.
Minecraft is a different case because of the reach. Merchandising, toys, clothes, movie etc.. Think about it, the first time most of our kids played Minecraft was likely on OUR devices. Keep getting the newer generations hooked on Minecraft. Rinse and repeat.
Don't be so caught up in the short term. Microsoft is going to make that 70 billion back by the time this deal closes next year. This is a 20-30 year, play the long game move. A Call of Duty that also exists on other platforms outside of Warzone does not offer maximum benefit to Gamepass. That's why all the new Bethesda stuff will be exclusive. It doesn't offer the the greatest value proposition for Gamepass if it can be played elsewhere, outside of the Microsoft ecosystem.
