He makes a valid point but he's wrong. Sony can still pivot and embrace gaming as a service over the sell people individual games model. A smaller company can compete in the same space as juggernauts. See Spotify and Roku who compete and own a huge marketshare of spaces Apple, Amazon, and Google operate in.
Sony's problem is unlike Roku and Spotify they aren't the pioneers in the games as a service space. We can see the growing pains of Game Pass. It's not going to be easy to just ramp up game production to supply content to a service.
Sony faces the Disney dilemma. A legacy company in a marketplace starting to shift in a direction that right now isn't advantageous to how they do business now. Do they embrace the shift or fight it. Disney is playing it down the middle. Still doing theaters but they shortened the release window to 45 days.
