What's scrambling? :ld:

PS Now was out before Gamepass was it not? :ld:

If they decide to do the one thing that Gamepass has over them (Day 1 exclusives on the service), it'd be curtains. We all know this too.

I fully expect to see Gamepass on Playstation sooner than later. I think MS would be better off going the Netflix route. :yeshrug:

Straight from the top. Selling more consoles ain’t enough, so they need to raise console prices, become a multiplatform developer and it would take them years and more money than they have to compete with Gamepass. If Gamepass/Subscriptions become the dominant way people play games, by Sony’s own words they would not be able to compete.

It’s all there. It’s all directly from sony. I’m not making things up :manny:

Xbox would’ve gotten smoked regardless last gen. The video definitely didn’t help but the problem was lack of games. And it’s been that way since the back half of the 360. They took an entire gen off with last gen even with leadership promising the games were coming. Only have themselves to blame.

They weren’t even the pioneers n the console space with GAAS subscription program either (PS Now was out two years before Gamepass). They have the most popular one primarily due to their exclusives that they do put out being on there day one.

At this point the PS and Nintendo brands are too set and established worldwide for Xbox to overtake. They’re Apple status.
We can come up with a large list of companies that ruled an industry, got disrupted and either are a shell of themselves or no longer exist.

Yes Sony has a streaming service. They half ass committed to it because ultimately if that service takes off it will cannibalize their sell direct to consumer business. It's kinda like GM made the first all electric car. Why then does Tesla dominate EVs today? Because Tesla was all in on it and GM it was just a side project to them.

You say it's impossible for Sony and Nintendo to be disrupted? I say it's inevitable. Microsoft has the resources to burn billions scaling their subscription streaming service and they know that once they do it the barrier to entry on a field they'll dominate on the other side of that will be almost insurmountable. Nadella is fully committed to it. Until he is removed or changes his mind that service is going to reach dominance in that field.

The question is who is going to compete with it?

Not saying it's impossible for Sony and Nintendo to fall off, but their leadership has ALWAYS understood that the games is what sells systems. I can't say the same for Xbox leadership. That is why both Nintendo and Sony still exist and continue to do well after decades. As long as that philosophy doesn't change, they'll be fine.

Sony should have BEEN put together a PS Now/Plus hybrid system. They do now at least. And if it comes down to it and they feel the need to put their exclusives on the service Day 1, they can now do it with ease. They do that and it's game over. We all know this.

They have the games, branding, and experience to know what works.

I feel more and more confident that you'll see GP on Nintendo and Sony sooner than later and MS exiting the console hardware biz.

Stop thinking systems and think service and reach now. Why limit to 60 to 100 million consoles when you have a billion mobile users worldwide which is added to PC Consoles etc..

The top box shyt is in its last generation bro. Why you think Microsoft wanted Activision besides COD... Candy Crush. Gaming as a whole is about to go through a major change and so far Microsoft is leading the way.

I"ll trust a company that has come in first place with every console they've released outside of one second place finish understanding what works rather than the one coming in last that still doesn't understand that games has to be the foundation.

Sony was dedicated to gaming ever since they came in the game in the 90s. It is Sony bloodline same as Nintendo. Microsoft even though they been changing the landscape of gaming as we know it since the early 00s never was really focused and dedicated until Phil Spencer came along. You now see full investments and again game changing capabilities coming to the video game industry due to them. I mean they only had three studios in 2016 to 30 plus in 2022. Games are coming but development takes time which you will start seeing some in 2023.

You now see the ability of the cloud and why it's becoming popular worldwide. Sony did a blockbuster move and didn't adapt even though Google Amazon and conglomerates like Communist Tencent was buying everythimg. It may be too late to adapt on a global scale. We all know Exclusives don't sell a system it's naming recognition and trends. Sony exclusives doesn't sell their system it's third party. The attachment rate of a Sony exclusive compared to systems sold is laughable.

Let's add Sony doesn't have an online game or developers that can make a game of that nature since PS3. They can't support a game pass service and thdy have a long ways to go.

Buncha nonsense breh.

Lol at not supporting a gampass service when they did it before Gamepass. The only thing they would have to do to be the same as Gamepass is add their highly desired AAA IPs on there day 1. They can do that with a flip of the switch right now if necessary.

Yall still supporting these goofies after that debacle of ineptitude last generation is incredible.

Love the sarcasm.

They've blown Xbox out in 2 of the 3 generations they've competed in so far and it's going to be a third with the current gen. :skip:

your talking about playstation vs xbox...but its sony vs microsoft...

Which is why Sony has to put playstation games on PC now...because if they don't they can't compete with Microsoft when it comes to gaming.

Game Pass on Sony and Nintendo consoles is what Microsoft wants. Both would be insane to allow that to happen. Microsoft strives for a business model where they can move on from the restraints of selling dedicated hardware and simply sell a service.

Nintendo will probably fall before Sony ever does because Nintendo only accepts things one way.

Go back and look at Microsoft 2 decades ago and look at them today. It's almost a completely different company with a different business model. The greats that reach the top understand that you have to be adaptable to change what you do. The companies that reach the top and fight to keep their legacy business model in place go extinct.

Up until almost very recently Nintendo has had their business model protected by technology constraints. Lately and going forward that might not be the case. People are less and less attached to buying media directly and less and less inclined to buy a propriety media box.

The selling people a dedicated console and games that lock them to that box days are going to come to an end. Will Nintendo accept that?
