I'm black on both sides, breh. But, I'm not going to front like a dude that has never even won a conference champio
Because he hasn't even won a conference championship.... ANYWHERE. All that stuff is cool. Can you win on a consistent basis? Really, really good coaches win. Especially on the lower levels of college football, and they do it quickly. If you can't win and do so convincingly more times than not -- I don't want you coaching at FSU. I don't give a damn if you're whatever color Kevin Bacon was when he turned into Hollow Man. If we hire Pruitt, Taggart, Jesus and the 12 disciples, and they're not successful, I want them gone. I'd need to see a lot more winning from dude before I'd feel like he was a can't miss. He hasn't stayed in any place for a long period of time in fairness to him -- so as of now -- I'm observing him.
What?!?!?! That type of thinking will have you chasing your tail. Jimbo won absolutely nothing, didn't even have head coaching experience when he took over.....how that work out? These programs are terrible before someone like Taggert steps in. He's a change agent and a maintainer (left the cupboard stocked for Charlie Strong). The only thing you need to see out of a coach at these small schools is can they make progress and make the team relevant. This man was in south Florida and beating Miami for some players! Jimbo has been in a recruiting hotbed and without generational talents in Jameis and Dalvin, he's basically a 9 wins/year coach. And instead of getting the hesitation that Taggert is getting, he's a hot commodity. Frost has head coached all of 24 games and he's all the rave right now. Nevermind that Taggert walked into WKU while they were on a 26 game losing streak and made them bowl eligible in the next 2 seasons. Nevermind that Taggert walked into USF following Skip producing a 3 win team and leaving the cupboard bare with players. All he did was snatch the #1 recruiting class in the conference 2 years in a row and by year 3 was bowl eligible again. But for some reason.....the brother has to show you more, huh?
