FSU staff to make final in-home visit with Armwood trio tonight
Big visit going down tonight in Tampa.

Noles247.com has learned that the Florida State coaching staff will be in Seffner (Fla.) tonight for one last face-to-face meeting with the three Armwood prospects that they're pursuing.

Nearly the entire offensive and defensive staff will visit with four-star wide receiver Warren Thompson, four-star defensive end Malcolm Lamar and three-star linebacker James Miller. B

oth Thompson and Lamar have already taken official visits to FSU. Miller was just offered last week and we expect the staff to set up a visit for Miller this weekend.

The competition for Thompson comes from South Carolina, the school he visited over the weekend. For Lamar, FSU has to beat out Florida and Oregon.

Noles247.com will have more on the Armwood trio after tonight's visit is completed.

Four-star DE Lamar recaps UF official visit
Four-star DE recaps UF official visit and details the latest in his recruitment

SEFFNER, Fla. – The Florida Gators hosted a half-dozen recruits on campus this past weekend for official visits as we inch closer to National Signing Day. One name that made the short drive up Interstate 75 for the visit was Seffner (Fla.) Armwood four-star defensive end Malcolm Lamar.

The in-state defender has visited Gainesville numerous times over the years, and enjoyed his most recent trip yet again.

“It was good and you can tell the energy around the campus is different with new people there and you can feel it. It’s the same place with better people in my opinion. I feel like I have a better relationship with the people in just a weekend than all the other times I went to Florida. The thing that stood out the most was how much fun I had and my mom and my sister were both happy.”

During Lamar’s extended stay in The Swamp, Florida defensive line coach Sal Suneri spent the bulk of his time around Lamar getting to know him better as well as explaining their plans for him in their new 3-4 defense.

“They talked a lot about me playing early and teaching me some techniques that I could use to help me out. He compared me a lot to Calais Campbell and he said that we have a lot of the same abilities. He told me how he’s coached 11 years in the NFL and now he’s back in college. He told me that he knows how to develop guys at each level and knows things to put guys in the best spot whether it’s height, weight, body type. They see me being a strong-side defensive end that could even get some move inside if need be. They like that I am versatile.”

The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder was accompanied by this mother and sister during him time on Florida’s campus. UF’s coaching and recruiting staff made it a point to make them feel included.

“They loved it and they loved the coaches,” Lamar said of his family. “The coaches made them feel very welcome and my family was just happy the whole time. I brought my sister with me and when we went to the UF basketball game, my sister plays basketball, so she really liked that. It was really cool for them to have some of the girls’ basketball players meet my sister.”

The four-star’s player host for the weekend was freshman defensive tackle T.J. Slaton, who is coming off his first season of college football, which saw him get several meaningful snaps.

“His message was just that if I come here to be ready to work,” Lamar said of Slaton. “He was saying they needed some help on the defensive line but they wanted guys to come in ready to fight for positions. The coaches at Florida were telling me that quarterback and D-line are the biggest keys to success in the SEC. They are telling me and making me feel like a big-time priority and going after me like they need me. The old staff didn’t do that even though they were saying the things.”

Going forward, Lamar notes he is likely finished with official visits with just one week left until the ‘Contact Period’ ends. However, there is a chance he makes a quick unofficial visit this coming weekend.

“I am going to probably visit Florida State this weekend on Saturday for an unofficial visit,” Lamar said. “Coach Willie [Taggart] and a bunch of other coaches from Florida state were by today [Monday] and they are just telling me to come fight for a spot and FSU is the best place for me”

When it comes to deciding his future school, fans and college coaches will have to wait until National Signing Day on February 7. Lamar says he will decide between Florida and Florida State, and is giving no one team the edge heading into that timeline.

When picking there are several factors he’s keeping in mind.

“Really playing time, I need to do my research and figure out who is being real with what they say and who really needs me and who has the best shot to play. Just things that have the best things for me to be successful and the best atmosphere.”

The 247Sports Composite, an industry generated average, currently ranks Lamar as the Nation’s No. 222 overall prospect in the 2018 recruiting class.

Yeah, sounds like it. As long as we good with Foster, Harrison, Thompson and Chapman Idgaf about the rest of these naggas. Lets get this top 10-15 class and works towards next yr
Looking at the recruiting strategy for this season, it’s actually smart af. Hit on the elite WC guys that they already had in the fold then go hard for the GA & FL kids for 2019 and beyond but still having them west coast connects.

The latest regarding Tre'shaun Harrison
The latest regarding Tre'shaun Harrison

Three schools remain in the mix for one of the West's most dynamic players. One has the edge, one could capitalize on a misstep and one is trying to make up groun

Florida State is in prime position to land the nation’s No. 4 athlete Tre'Shaun Harrison, a source close to the four-star recruit tells 247Sports.

247Sports is told his head coach at Seattle (Wash.) Garfield is on board with the plan the Seminoles have for Harrison. The relationship with Willie Taggart has remained strong from Oregon to Tallahassee. Taggart being the play-caller is big and the scheme and opportunity is what Harrison is looking for.

The visit this weekend could lock the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Harrison up.
In addition to FSU, Oregon and Utah remain in the mix.

A former Ducks commit, Harrison took his official over the weekend. Coming in it was basically a courtesy trip. Coming out, it was a step in the right direction for Oregon. Harrison’s mom needed some clarity from Oregon and sounds like she enjoyed the trip. Harrison and his coach need to buy into the direction of the offense under coordinator Marcus Arroyo. The Ducks staff will try and build on the weekend on Tuesday when Arroyo, head coach Mario Cristobal and Keith Hayward go in-home. If Arroyo and Harrison find themselves on the same page moving forward, Oregon could sneak back into this one.
But as it stands right now, if the visit to Florida State doesn’t go as well as expected, Utah is in the best position. Harrison has a great relationship with Kiel McDonald. He likes the academic piece with the Utes and the tradition the program has with sending guys to the NFL.

My Crystal Ball has been on Oregon long before he committed to the Ducks the first time. I’ll ride that through tonight’s in-home with Cristobal, Arroyo and Heyward. If that doesn’t stem the tide, I’ll flip to Florida State heading into the weekend. If FSU does what it’s supposed to do from there, they’ll land a dynamic player that could also be a lockdown cornerback. Say the trip isn’t as advertised, I like the Utes chances.

247Sports ranks Harrison as the No. 2 player in the state of Washington and No. 114 recruit overall.

Majority of FSU offensive staff visiting James Foster today
Important visit talking place later today in Alabama.

Noles247 has learned that the majority of Florida State’s offensive coaching staff will be in Montgomery, AL today to make a final in-home visit with four-star quarterback James Foster.

It won’t be the last time the FSU staff sees Foster before Signing Day, he’s coming in this weekend for an official visit, but it will be the last time they are able to meet with him in his home state.

Foster has taken recent trips to LSU, Alabama and Texas A&M. But he’ll be in Tallahassee the final weekend before Signing Day and the ‘Noles staff hopes to leave a lasting impression and get his signature next Wednesday.

Where things stand: Florida State's defensive recruiting
A look at where things stand for Florida State when it comes to defensive recruiting.

With just over a week remaining before National Signing Day, the final stretch run for Florida State is coming into focus.
Here is a look at where things stand for the Seminoles on defense:

With the additions of four-star defensive lineman Dennis Briggs and four-star edge rusher Xavier Peters over the weekend, FSU’s defensive recruiting needs were drastically reduced.
The Seminoles do have a few final targets they hope to close on over the next week.

An additional defensive lineman or two as well as a linebacker are the primary needs heading down the final stretch.
On the defensive line, Florida State hosted Rome (Ga.) three-star defensive lineman Jamarcus Chatman last weekend and made a big impression upon him. The Seminoles have some competition in the form of Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia Tech for the versatile defensive lineman who could play inside or outside. He is set to travel to Miami for an official visit this coming weekend. Many feel the Hurricanes pose the biggest threat for his services. It will mark his final official visit. He has seen all of his favorites on officials except for Georgia Tech, who he unofficially visited back in December.

Another primary defensive line target for the Seminoles is Seffner (Fla.) Armwood four-star strong-side defensive end Malcolm Lamar. Lamar is done with officials, having visited only Florida and Florida State, and it appears to be down to those two. The Seminoles are set to host him for an unofficial visit this coming weekend. FSU feels good about their position with him at this time.

Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage four-star edge rusher Andrew Chatfield is an in-state battle between the Florida, Florida State and Miami. Some feel it is a battle between just the Gators and Hurricanes, but FSU maintains contact with Chatfield and hopes to sway him. Chatfield himself keeps a low profile, but has tipped his hand some in the favor of the Hurricanes in recent interviews. He has officially visited all three schools over the past three weekends. A decision is expected on National Signing Day.

A true linebacker target that FSU has their sights set on is Seffner (Fla.) Armwood three-star inside linebacker James Miller. The offer from the Seminoles to Miller was late, but that shouldn’t be an ongoing issue after he officially visits this weekend. Iowa, Marshall and USF are also in the mix and have each received an official visit during the process.

Two other front seven types that FSU has been involved with but no longer appear to be top targets are Homerville (Ga.) Clinch County three-star strong-side defensive end John Mincey and Lithonia (Ga.) Miller Grove four-star strong-side defensive end Caleb Tannor. Both had previously planned to possibly take an official visit to FSU, but as of Tuesday morning those visits are not locked in and their focus looks to be elsewhere - South Carolina and Tennessee for Mincey, Auburn and Florida for Tannor.

FSU appears satisfied with their class in the secondary and the remainder of their defensive commitments.

The full commitment list can be seen below.

FSU staff set to make final in-home with Tre'Shaun Harrison
Can Florida State pull 4-star ATH Tre'Shaun Harrison from West Coast competition?

Noles247 has learned that a majority of the Florida State offensive coaching staff will be in Seattle, WA on Wednesday for a last in-home visit with four-star ATH Tre'Shaun Harrison.

The Seminoles are set to host Harrison on an official visit this coming weekend. He’s already taken trips to Utah, Tennessee and last weekend, Oregon. The Ducks seem to be the ‘Noles biggest competition for Harrison at this time.

Harrison is expected to announce his decision on Signing Day.

So is Young supposed to be visiting this weekend?

That's the word.. But i don't think that was supposed to get out. My homeboy who is a tenn fan told me coaches threaten to pull his offer if he "flirted" with other schools or took visits. People have basically guilted dude into signing with Tenn rather than looking around bc they were the 1st to offer him. He sent me links and screenshots of all this from their 247 forum..gotta find them I don't have access to the site.

One of (Jordan Young) coaches is a BIG Fsu fan and wanted Jimmybob them to take a look at jitt, but they never did. Partly bc his grades were/are so bad..I forgot which breh brought it up but the main reason no one really went after dude was bc of his grades. The coaches (Taggart) have been getting at him lowkey (via phone) trying to set up a visit and not to blow his Tenn offer... but at this time taggart and the gang like we don't gaf we need receivers!

FSU not giving up on trying to flip Jordan Young from Tennessee
Florida State still trying to flip a recent Tennessee commitment.

Florida State is not giving up on Conyers (Ga.) Heritage three-star wide receiver Jordan Young.

According to the Tennessee commitment, multiple members of the staff are expected to make their way to see him on Wednesday.

"Yes sir, they plan on doing a in-home tomorrow," Young said on Tuesday evening.

Noles247.com has confirmed that head coach Willie Taggart is expected to be part of the visit.

The goal of the visit is for the Seminoles to set up an official visit with the 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver.

Young burst onto the recruiting scene in early January, but quickly shut things down with a commitment to the Volunteers. He has had communication with the Seminoles over the past three weeks. FSU is in desperate need of adding depth and talent at the receiver position and values Young along with four-star wide receiver Warren Thompson, four-star wide receiver Tre'Shaun Harrison and more.

Up to this point in time, Young has stated he is firm in his pledge and doesn't intend to take other visits.

Young is ranked by the 247Sports.com Composite as a three-star and the No. 65 wide reciver in the nation. 247Sports.com ranks him as a four-star and the No. 27 wide receiver and No. 190 overall prospect.
