You're missing he point. The peaceful protesting has shown to have little impact since the days of Martin Luther King; it's really the rioting that have people waking up and changing tune as @Ziggiy touched on already

My thing is, nothing the NBA will do as a protest will equal what those people rioting were doing, as far as drawing attention for the cause to the wider world OUTSIDE of sports. Nba players not playing will hurt the nba/white owners' pockets for sure but in the end, NBA players are going to fuk over their own pockets and power.

That tweet explains what’s at stake. If you only take into account corona there are still health concerns around the leagues plan to keep the players safe. I think that’s reason enough for them not to play at least til these are addressed. The plan is not fully fleshed out & does not consider all possible scenarios.Even if it’s not in its final stages the NBA should not have released a plan until it was. The league is trying to protect its tv contracts & keep the CBA intact & threw this plan together. Little thought about player safety went into this

I don't buy it, i am sure there are alot of behind the scene details which fans don't know about which are still being sorted out. Its in the league's interest to keep players as safe as possible. If they could they would chain these players and support staff into their hotel rooms and keep them away even from their families. Make their lives gym -> hotel for the next 3 months. But I'm sure that wouldn't sit well with most guys. So now they have to find a middle ground between safety and ensuring players don't feel like slaves.

Patrick Beverly and Avery Bradley made $100 M?

I gotta remember that "Black Wealth = Pro Black" line when the "repubs buy sneakers, why are jordans so expensive?" crowd resurfaces.
Avery never even said he didn’t want to play. You’re running with one quote and creating a false narrative.

Like I said, you really gotta dissect these posts to see who is well-intentioned in arguing for the season to be cancelled and who is angling for the season to be cancelled because of how they feel about Bron.

I wish dudes like Kyrie, Pat Beverley and Dwight Howard would just be real and say I don’t really want to sit in a hotel room at Disney for a couple of months. I want to start my vacation early. I hate these conveniently woke dudes who hit you with a couple of post for a couple of weeks and go back to regularly scheduled programming. When we seen this movie a hundred times. What they do kneel for a couple of games, NFL throw a couple of millions at a few black fundraisers as an tax write-off and throw Jay-Z the bag to come on TV to say we pass kneeling. Nothing changed unarmed black people still going killed without consequence. Systematic racism is rooted into the soul of America. This country was built on slave labor and still to this because the 13th amendment. Canceling not gonna change nothing. We need reform and it don’t fall on Athletes. It comes from the people we put in offices and lobbyists. So all these dudes who coming out of nowhere making little post, that’s cool it brings awareness to the cause. But I want to see you do it when everything die down and it’s not the hottest thing on the streets. I seen Lebron, Shannon Sharpe and Jalen Rose post about racism when it wasn’t the hot thing to do. Kyrie, Pat and Dwight all got the money and status to bring real change. Do like Lebron and Jalen Rose built a charter school for underprivileged children because we all know public school are historically segregated by the quality of education and resources versus public schools in predominantly white neighborhoods. Lebron and Jalen Rose teamed up to protect the black vote, when people have suppressed the black vote forever. That’s what’s going bring change for black people. Even the little stuff like Lebron putting black people around him in positions of power changes things. A lot of these dudes gonna drop a couple of post for a month then go back to posting about their latest endorsement and be back ready to play for the next season. All I ask is don’t run game on me I’m not one of these average negroes who get excited because you went a protest and shouted no justice no peace for a few hours or posted blackout Tuesday and black lives matter on your Instagram. Russell Westbrook making a documentary about the black Wall Street. That’s what I like to see educating ignorant people on black history, not this non-sense.

I can't knock either side. If dudes don't wanna play and want to focus all of their energy on the cause or they are concerned about their health or the health of others then :salute:. If dudes do wanna play because they either love the game or they are about their bread then more power to them. These are the only perspectives that are acceptable. Dudes that just wanna party with no regard for any of those things can :camby:. Dudes that just wanna stir the pot or aren't man enough to state their position and stand behind it like Beverly can :camby: as well.

You're projecting and assuming those men cant feel the way they do genuinely...and why? Cause you want to watch basketball? Dwight plays a significant role on a legit contender and stands to lose millions. He has no incentive to not want to play. To call this non-sense is some white-man on Kaepernick shyt. You simply dont like the way he protesting cause inconvenient to you.

This is disingenuous to those guys.
For 1 Kyrie said he wanted to go to Orlando to support but hes also speaking up for other players who felt their concerns weren't heard whether it be health reason or the optics of being used as a distraction. He's speaking for those guys.
And does dwight not have the ability to start somewhere? Just cause he hasn't always been one way doesn't mean he's faking the funk now. The brotha could have had a true moment of clarity while sitting at home with his fam watching all this going on. Stuff hit differently for different people.

To what? That they want to finish this season and then play another abbreviated season next year? Sounds dumb as hell to me.
If they don’t play this year the owners can rip up the cba that’s why they have to play to protect what they have.

I’m just over the whole hop on the social activism wave when it’s trendy after a few months the post dry up and everything back to normal. I need to see action outside a few post on social media. I want you put charter schools in the inner city, I want you to start up tuition fund for blacks. Take some black people off the street who want to learn and trained them up, get high paying jobs. Build up the communities it’s time for real change enough social media barking. I get why people get excited when they see all the pro black stuff on social media and people waking up and learning. I’m with all and proud people are waking, wanting to learning the real black history not the whitewash stuff they teach public schools. I get happy seeing people uncover black history. But like I said I seen this movie too many times with Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Tamar Rice & ETC. Nothing changes I just seen an unarmed black man get on the TV again and I’m 100% sure I’m see another one any day now. I don’t know where y’all got this narrative that I’m upset because I want basketball back. I barely watch TV as it is. I just work, read books, work out and spend time with my family. I don’t care about the NBA coming back. But I understand the platform the NBA can provide to these players to keep bring to the cause. One thing I did learn from all the prior situation dealing with racial tension is never let the opposers forget what they did. If the NBA and the players can use their platform to keep reminding people who shield themselves and claim racism don’t exist. I’m all for it, every game I want them to remind the world we need justice for Breonna Taylor, we need justice for George Floyd, we need justice for Ahmaud Arbery. Football is king and NFL and College Football take up most of the attention. So the whole distraction argument is flawed. It’s not a distraction we can chew gum and walk at the same time. That’s what I always remind people who bring up black on black crime we can focus on two things at once, it’s not hard.

Players that want to sit out for social change: We don't think the media can continue to give these important issues if we play. We don't want basketball to be a distraction.

Media: Can't you just wear shirts:dahell:, or talk about it during the post game:dwillhuh:, or we can have commercials:ld:.

Kyrie has become public enemy number one for arguing against playing basketball and people question whether the media can not get distracted.
