A sitout will not get 100% of the message across.

Theres currently no season at the moment, so they will just continue to be out of sight out of mind while people gear up for football or baseball. It wont be remembered as the time the NBA shutdown due to racial injustice protest. It will be remembered as the time they lost the season to COVId.

Youve gotta think bigger. With the platform that the NBA players have with a league that caters to them, they can do much more than just some PSA announcement at halftime, or a bunch of brehs wearing "i cant breathe" t-shirts during warmups. You could have text and pre-recorded short videos of players voicing their opinions and providing solutions on issues of racial injustice and police brutality playing at every timeout or stoppage of play. A breh gets hot or makes a big play? show an excerpt from his IG or twitter page where he discusses his thoughts on the situation and what to focus on next, instead of showing a graphic of his stats or something. They could say fxck play-by-play altogether and talk race 95% of the broadcast if they want. Bring in players who DIDNT make the playoffs or who got eliminated and have them in the press booth or call into the broadcast speaking their mind. Shyt they could have the game playing on 1/4th of the screen the whole time if they wanted.

The message could be constant and repetitive if they so choose. You never want to waste a good platform. They have the opportunity to Hijack the NBA playoffs and take over the whole shyt. You literally wont be able to root for a player without being shown his views on the subject, what needs to change and how to change it ad nauseum. Anyone who watches will immediately realize how important this shyt really is compared to the game.

They can do all of the bolded now on their own and get the same # of eyes.
You gotta realize everything you said is not player driven, everything you said depends on if ESPN or TNT decides to do it. That's something they'd have to want to do with the players.

If they sit out after it's been established that they were to return it sends a bigger message. A message that they're taking it into their own hands to look out for their safety and also their social awareness.
July 31st the top story is the nba was supposed to be back but it's not cause of....
August 1st NBA heres how they're working on it
August 2nd until...are nba players going to get their demands met and is the nba going to return

It's an entirely different media cycle and coverage than being done cause of covid cause this is a choice vs being forced

Yea players wearing i can't breathe shirts or whatever mickey mouse milquetoast shyt you can think of isnt moving the needle like a boycott.

These players have the power to make their message a god damn world event if they wanted to. They can stop the world any time they want to. Have you heard of "The Decision"? Bron, Kawhi, Steph, etc can have the world tune in to a televised event specifically for social change on any network, backed by nike, under armor, coke pepsi, all the fukking companies they endorse for. This bozo argument of "bbbut the nba games can be the biggest platform" is weak.

Who’s going to air that event? Surely not a network that’s a NBA broadcast partner. Lebron is the only player in the league where if he left basketball forever today, he’s remain a star and could still use his celebrity for causes. People like Steph, Kawhi and Kyrie needs the NBA and it’s platform to spread their message to the widest audience possible. If you’re going to protest and make a stand as a celebrity, the idea is to put the issue in the face of the public and make them as uncomfortable as the people that are being oppressed. How can you do that if you make your stand easy to ignore?

I don’t think they should walk out unless they make it clear that they may not come back at all. If they’re sitting out then back in camp in October how serious is it?

hes vocal, transparent, willing to take backlash, stand behind whatever ideas he believes regardless of public backlash. He's also is providing backing to plenty of players whose voices wouldn't matter much without him. Hes a VP of the NBAPA and one of the top players in the league. People may shyt on his leadership on the court, but he's literally being a leader right now. He could literally not give one fukk and collect his money. Should he instead propose the nba should bring a member of the KKK so they can kneel together to band america together?

So there aren’t any topics that the media will look back on and agree that Kyrie was right?

Kyrie being skeptical of returning should be a normal reaction of any halfway logical person and does it deserve a story... media making it way more than what it is...and always will going forward

Where did I say he was right about anything? I just said the media will pretend that they cared about him or liked him. Just like they pretended they fukked with Kobe.

Haven’t been following too closely. So is there going to be a final vote from all the players whether to continue or cancel?

Bruh they have millions of followers They control their image. This aint 1990 when you needed news paper guys to get a message out to the public. They can directly interact with them.

I mean if the nba can use those 3-4 months to figure out how to make things work then its for the better.
Players are concerned about this bubble shyt

Theres no reason to think either broadcasting network wouldnt be on board with something like that.. As i said before, the NBA playoffs would be the hottest ticket in town, the NBA has some leverage with whoever theyre dealing with. If theyre not with it, the players could then sit out.

As for the rest of your post i guess we could agree to disagree. I dont think theyd get nearly enough attention from the right people by sitting at home tweeting alone. There are more people watching the NBA playoffs then there are people following NBA players on social media.

Everything about this post is clownish and borderline scary.

If the players boycott, you gotta respect that.

The other reality is that the owners drafted up an incredibly greedy proposal. 22 teams... 7 game series... that's so much fukking basketball.

Like someone else said here... NBA players arent astronauts. They didnt sign up for 3 months away from family and friends. The owners are just trying to play as many games as possible, at the expense of the players. Its a bad look, and the players have realized that. I don't think the season will be cancelled, but it should be renegotiated.

16 teams. 4 exhibition games and then the playoffs. Some type of extra injury compensation. 5 game series in the 1st round.
They’re trying to recoup as much money as possible. The players benefit from this too.
