One can also argue that this is a great time to use these games as platforms. Especially without fans, the entire focus will be on the players. Everybody comes out with a 'Cant breath' shirt, then kneel during the anthem. NBA can't say shyt.

Or better yet DON'T PLAY AT ALL. That way the focus stays on the protests.

You can't deny that the shut down and quarantine played a part in why the George Floyd protests blew up. We've had similar deaths on camera before from Eric Garner to Alton Sterling. But it was this one that changed everything. And that's largely cause there's nothing else going on.

Starting up sports again will let people forget what is going on. Sports is an escape. I can see the rationale in Kyrie's thinking. No sports = continued focus on social change.

I'm very disappointed in LeBron. He should be leading this charge not running away from it. Fukk a fraudulent ring. Social change is more important. And not playing games sends a louder message than playing them would.

Just look at how much has changed in the last few weeks compared to all the years before. The quarantine and lockdown has shifted the nation's attention. With no sports and other forms of entertainment to distract them, white folks have been forced to confront the uncomfortable truths of the racist nation they live in. Bringing back sports will allow people to escape back into their make believe words and ignore whats really going on.

Bron should know better.

Sports ain't the only escape out here. Some areas are opening back up. Many others have opened up completely. Lots of people going back to work, and depending on where we are with the virus, kids will eventually go back to school. If sports is all it takes for you to ignore the protests, then you're not really invested in this social change anyway and it will show.

I mean he has a point. Chappelle kind of alluded to it in his special.

If everything were normal, this movement would be nowhere near as large IMO. It needs to be capitalized on while hot, for all of us.
I agree. But I’m not saying they should play. I’m saying that they can do both if they choose to.

Did Kyrie use his trickery to convince Avery to hurt Bron too:troll:

He got Dwight too:lupe:

Dwight is 100% right. Sports are a distraction. Its an escape. And right now, America don't need the escape. America needs to confront the truth of its racist ways.

The NBA players would send a huge message by boycotting. It would show these white executives black folks ain't playing no more.

You think racists really give a fukk about the NBA either way? They’d be more than happy to see the Black players lose out on millions while the owners take more leverage over them.

So we can’t talk about sports and racial inequalities now? :dead:

we have to choose.

Absolutely. Why else do you think the narrative shifted with George Floyd and not Eric Garner, Alton Sterling, Trayvon Martin, etc.?

Because of the quarantines people didn't have any distractions. All eyes were on the injustice. By bringing back distractions like sports, it'll mean people will just move on to the next story rather than actually making change.

Kyrie may give hackneyed takes on some things he doesn't know about, but the fact of the matter is he does research on more topics than most people do. He's a well read person that is very well spoken when it comes to societal issues instead of science
