I don’t think so. One, these protests are already as big a story as any story has ever been. Two, The season is already on what would be its last week of games. At this point the NBA is well out of people’s thoughts. And the other leagues are ramping up and going to fill their usual voids.

At this point its about saving the league because if those contracts get voided, alot of teams players and media are going to be hurt.

If I thought them sitting out would have meaningful impact I would have a different tune but I don’t think it would.

I don’t think a player will want to be known as the person who potentially cost their team at winning a championship, so they will feel pressured to play regardless.

if LeBron speaks on on it, it will be spun as he doesn't give a fukk about anything but getting his 4th ring by certain people.

he clearly wants to play, breh was against playing in empty arenas lol. he will be fine whether the games are played or not, i think it's smart for him to let the other players with more to gain/lose decide.

i'd say it's already too late pretty much.

Starting the season at the end of June seemed like a pipe dream to honest. You’d essentially have to get all the foreign players back to the US and quarantine them before they could even start spring practice.

Even then, there’s no guarantee that they’d make it here without any issues with travel restrictions from their home country.

Yeah the problem is in perception. Its not even really about the season at this point. The basketball that comes back will probably be terrible and people will likely asterisk this season anyway.

But it does seem like alot of players are missing the forest here. You’re risking setting back years of the predominantly black players association progress and giving leverage to the predominantly white ownership group.

How late is too late before the MLB season gets cancelled?
They're gonna be forced to play 48 games at the rate this is going. I'll say this though.

Let's say shyt really goes south and the NBA decides to scrap the season. MLB will follow suit no less than 48 hours later. Deep down a lot of owners just don't wanna lose money by playing, but being the first North American league to pull the plug would be unforgivable to a lot of people. MLB would feel so much better if another league deaded operations. MLS isn't. NHL definitely isn't.

I mean he has a point. Chappelle kind of alluded to it in his special.

If everything were normal, this movement would be nowhere near as large IMO. It needs to be capitalized on while hot, for all of us.

If the idea is not play until there's some sort of goal in mind, every player will have a different answer to what that is. Some might not feel it's ok til there's a conviction. Some won't til the cops are sentenced. Some won't til there's a out and out civil war of sorts. Some will wait for a vaccine or a cure or fans in the stands. Everything will vary in terms of when people will think it's ok to enjoy their lives again and play sports.
