This is more about multi-family, multi-generational living. Like grandparents, their children and their families, so you have the elder grandparents, both of their sons and their sons wives and children all living together in a big house, or on a compound, etc. Grandparents, parents, uncles and aunts and kids (all cousins) all in close proximity.

Living in ideals doesn't work.

The nuclear family encourages isolation for women ie give up or distancing your social circle. So that when the relationship ultimately fails (which they do more than not) now you have a single mom in a world that doesn't support single motherhood.

The Nuclear family is unstable and literally built on the whims of the parents.

If we had a system that stopped that isolation and encouraged a more stable and dependable family system then we would have better outcomes.

The family unit is the foundation of a community. I dont know how you can tell me that children from two parents homes don't have a better outcome than those out of single parent households. Thats why divorce is so devastating to children.

Also this isn't about controlling a partner WTF. While I'd argue that we're moreso serial monogamous most of us benefit from the idea that we have one partner. Its just the path of least resistance.

Also the isolation goes both ways. It's two fold. I've had a few of my friends henpecked after getting married. I barely see them. Everything else becomes a hobby. I think it's important for people to cultivate their friendships even when in a relationship or marriage though.

I ask again, what system other than the nuclear family gives similar or better outcomes for people? I haven't even factored in the idea of building generational wealth.
