yo, i can't be the only one who finds this video hilarious, i'm cryin over here...

skateboarders, is it normal for someone to be skating as long as lil wayne has and still look like an absolute novice who has no business skating?

This is the same cat who started showing up everywhere with his guitar, all serious about it, and still played like shyt 2 years after :heh:

thanks, yo....i never knew the background of valterra.
when did you transition to other decks?
plus when did the double flip lip boards come out, that are standard now?
did you get better from the newer designed decks..
or did you know how to innovate with the older decks?

i always wondered that,..as i stopped and missed that whole change gen wise.

everyone transitioned to other decks, around 89/90.. all the boards started to get alot skinnier/lighter because people were really straying away from any kinda components like rails, nose guard, copers & tail skids that actually made the boards heavier, and restricted you from doing alot of tricks..

i learned a majority of skateboard tricks, within my first 2yrs.. i started skating at the beginning of Summer, and by the end I was doing inverts on flatground.. doing trcks off waist-high launch ramps.. pretty much all my basics, and was even dropping in my homies backyard vert ramp by the time school came back in.. i never owned pads, and honestly still don't to this day(I Wouldn't recommend that, tho :mjpls:)..

I actually have a old school Gator, in practically mint condition.. it was the first one, where it said Mark Rogowski, instead of Mark "Gator" Rogowski in his signature.. for those of you who remember Gators, it's the one before the jagged lines in the hypnotic-esque graphic.. i still skate it here & there, and can do all old-school, and modern tricks on it with no problem..

also, for any fans of Robert Williams(of Juxtapos fame, and he also did the BDP "Sex & Violence" cover) he released a series with all the OG Santa Cruz cats(Dressen Tom Know, Jason Jesse, etc) and I got my hands on one of them as well.. :smugdraper: he recently did one with Gonz, Im currently gonna track down.. dog, my crib look like a skateboard museum.. just got a 8x10 B&W OG print of Hosoi in Venice 1988, doing a method air off a jumpramp.. :ahh:

dopeness!!

i figured you could do all the older tricks on the heavier boards.
plus you had a skate motif based crib.
shyt when we were little pads and helmets cost to much for any kid, even with an allowance to own. so, i am not surprised by that admission at all.
now, you can get pads for cheap. back when we were kids pads were an expensive luxury item!
before mother's group fukked up the gAme. the only thing mother's groups did. that was cool was make pads and helmets become mass produced.
which made them cheaper and more accessible to the public.
anyway, you know i am crazy about anything hosoi.
hence my stage name....
anyway,......
could we get a embed of that hosoi if possible?

I think I'm a better skater than Wayne...

:manny:

i do not think weezy can even tic tac,....
which is the first thing i remember having to be able to do to learn to skate.
me and my friends used to tic-tac non-stop.
for a whole block in the street in a controlled line to get better.

i really think he just pulls this deck out for the camera.
no way someone with his downtime and property has not learned to skate.

it just does not add up.

he can not even just ride a board.
he could not even ollie. when the decks now are light as fukk and he is a grown man.
when we were shawty's the decks alone were heavy as fukk. so getting it off the ground was a chore. now decks are light as hell from just kmart. with two lips, on tip of that. watching him ollie was like no way.

his failure is enough to make me want to go put new trucks and balls/bearings Amd wheels on this dilapidated transformer deck i found. then use my vacant ass crib to relearn to skate. that is how awful duke is.

the shyt doesn't add up. nobody takes that long to skate with that much free time.

we know he isn't writing his rhymes and has reference and scratch vocals pumped in his headphones. so why in the fukk can this dude not skate. after all this damn time.
back in the day we did not have skate parks, whole rock venue parking lots, with bam.
houses with empty pipes and long ass driveways, to shred without some crazy man chasing us off of his shyt, like mr simmons. who had like a fukkin vert ramp driveway.

plus bam or black top did not come around till like fukkin 87,...
so even the pavement is smoother to learn to ride on.

plus to get a skateboard from my parents. i had to master my friends deck for like two summers before i got my own. so how in the fukk?
can this dude not skate after all this time.

this shyt does not add up like his ghostwritten rap skill.

Yeah I only skated for like 3 years from like the age of 8 to 11 and I was much more advanced than the stuff Wayne is trying to do...He's probably just not an athletic or coordinated cat.... I was shocked to see how bad he looked after hearing he has a ramp in his crib....

mad props!!

it is crazy, what hosoi went through.
i am blessed i did not end up like him.

yo, i remember wanting that and anything vision.
especially a deck real bad!
that bad thing about skating in the chi was winter.
so, skating year round outside would never have happened.
my basement was all crc.
so i would shred that.
it was limited space and only so much you could do with the support beams in the way here and there.
the support beams were real steel down there. glad i never ran into one.
if they had that skate park they have on the lake front back them.
i know me and my friends would have shoveled that sumbytch off.
then dried it, and used it with snow on the ground surrounding everything else like the hoop court in my yard.

there is no way duke skates everyday.
i would be more inclined to believe him.
if he was from a northern state.
as the weather could easily be an excuse.
being in the south and they have heated skateparks.
no fukk'n way can i believe he really is trying to learn to skate.
he got a huge ass driveway, for starters.
shyt just does not add up,......
my street after i learned to skate in 86.
had no outlet and no parking, dead ended by the lake.
so it was a virtual outdoor skatepark.
there is no damn way,..this dude has all those resources and really is learning to skate.

people can skateboard everyday, but it doesn't guarantee you'll be good at it.. it takes alot of time, and dedication.. its also a mental game.. only thing i can compare it to, is golf..

Wayne just don't got what it takes.. him liking to skateboard, and him parading around like hes gonna be the best and trying to make money all the while is what really makes him look goofy as fukk.. he should do like Chris Brown, Beiber'velli and the rest of them cats who just enjoy doing it on the low.. everything aint about being flashy, and making money.. especially amongst the skateboard culture.. peep that BB trailer, and watch what Tony Hawk says.. dude just wanted to skateboard.. thats truthfully all any skater wants to do.. especially his first few years.. all the other shyt, is a added bonus after years of dedicating yourself to the sport..
