was valterra the shyts with the orange bumpers on the bottom? (graphics would always be chinese dragons and tigers...maybe?) haha that was before i was skating but i've seen a few if that's them.

the original one that im speaking of.. actually, there were a few.. but, the main one that was dope, was the Melt Down.. they had a few pros, but no one too heavy..

Valterra was a sub-division of Madrid, and basically made price-point boards.. sold em at KMart, and sporting goods stores.. alot of folks had em, when i started skating..

they also made the Alf, and Back to the Future boards.. Micheal J. Fox, was riding one in the movie..

its not normal.. especially with all the advancements in skateboards, terrain, etc.. I could teach someone to do what he does, in a weekend at a actual concrete park.. easily..

he lacks just basic board control.. has no concept of weight distribution.. plus, you can tell he doesn't stretch.. those are some of the most important elements of skateboarding..

i think it was pretty common!
i still got that deck at the parents crib.
i loved the shape of that deck for that time, as a kid.
i had santa cruz foil stickers on it, i sent away for, too.
i had the neon green wheels,..
when my guy got one, he only had plain black wheels.

thanks, yo....i never knew the background of valterra.
when did you transition to other decks?
plus when did the double flip lip boards come out, that are standard now?
did you get better from the newer designed decks..
or did you know how to innovate with the older decks?

i always wondered that,..as i stopped and missed that whole change gen wise.

for how common valterra was.

they had some good designs for kids as a starting point.
it was not like a powell peralta mcgill or a tony hawk.
yet, it wasn't bad for a beginner.
i used to want that mcgill so bad!

anyway here is meltdown,....

i do not remember the executioner, but it looks like another quality price point deck for a beginner in those times, though!
