let me guess...full of n words huh?

RingTV.com: What are your thoughts Sergey Kovalev's comments about African Americans? Were they controversial or not in nature, due to the Russian language? In other words, what was your interpretation of what Kovalev actually said?

Shumenov: I was shocked when I heard about his racist comments that he said in reference about African Americans. There was no misinterpretation or lost in Russian-to-English translation of what he said.

He will have to live with the derogatory words that he said in print and video. A lot of my team are African Americans, and they are more than members of my team, they are family to me. They have my back and I have theirs, and I have zero respect for racist views of any kind.

I don't see any adjustments that Kovalev can make:manny:

All he could hope for is the judges to be on his side, because the 2nd half of the fight was all downhill for him
I agree that is how I expect the fight to go. What are your thoughts on if Kovalev will try to be dirty this time or be a bit more wild?

I could see that happening. What he needs is to stay calm and try to box the best he can, but I am wondering if his anger will let him get sloppy.

I think if Ward keeps his cool, stays aware...which is basically his M.O., then Ward should win 8-4 this time around. One of the hardest things to do is beat a skilled boxer after he has already had a look at you.

Might have to go bet my customers again, who I know will be picking Kovalev. :lolbron:

I think he's gonna be dirty and sloppy due to the fact, the pressure is on HIM in the rematch....and he knows it which is why he flips out at the press conferences. He cant lose to SOG in back to back fights, especially clearly, because with all the trash talk he's done...he's gonna look stupid at the end.

I agree and what will be interesting is if he let's this matchup define him or can he just take his L, admit Ward was better and move on being content he can still get matchups and prove he is better than Stevenson or Beterbiev.
Kind of like Mosley-Forrest...Forrest just had Mosley's number :to:, but Mosley didn't let that define the rest of his career. If Kovalev loses a second time, his career will be more mental than physical trying to refocus.

Also, makes it a perfect time for Ward to retire if he wants to. Get a consensus victory and ride off unscathed and well paid. But I have been skeptical of his retirement talk.

Surprised no one has caught this. It was our own @Jae who captured and posted it before Kovalev could delete it.

Ward should won by a wider margin this time. He just needs to keep his composure because Kovalev may be dirty this fight or try to "Maidana" rush him for a bit...but he won't have the stamina to keep it up.
What did he say? I just saw strange text messages between the 2.

There weren't any text messages exchanged.

KKKovalev made up SOG's words, words and verbiage we've never heard SOG use, exposing his racist side once again:snoop:
He typed a fake text conversation between he and Ward. He was taunting Ward and then made up the texts for Ward, initially portraying Ward's response as an angry black man and then changing it to be polite. All the while feeling really comfortable throwing slurs out there, knowing he already has been confronted on doing this before.

He knew it was bad because he deleted it. Lucky @Jae caught it. Apparently this happened last friday...still no real story pick ups by the main stream media. :francis:

Rigondeaux Vows To Go Toe To Toe With Flores on Ward-Kovalev

NEW YORK, NY – Reigning WBA World Super Bantamweight Champion Guillermo “El Chacal” Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs) will face WBA interim titleholder Moises “Chucky” Flores (25-0, 17 KOs) in a long-awaited mandatory 12-round WBA title defense that will tarnish one fighter’s perfect record. Rigondeaux vs. Flores has officially been added to the Pay-Per-View undercard of Ward-Kovalev 2: “The Rematch” at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Saturday, June 17. The championship event, presented by Corona Extra, will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View® beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.

“I would like to thank Roc Nation Sports, Caribe Promotions and HBO for the opportunity to fight on the biggest Pay-Per-View card of the year. It will be a night of great boxing that fans will not want to miss out on. It's going to be a chance to show HBO what they want to see. Some say I'm not exciting but it's not my fault that once my opponents feel my power, they start running and stop throwing punches. Regardless of that, I'm going to give them what they want. I will be standing in the middle of the ring toe-to-toe and putting on a show for the fans. This is where I’ll show the world what my fans got to see in my last fight in the UK against [James] dikkens,” said Rigondeaux. “I want to thank Moises Flores for having the courage to step in the ring with me and accepting the mandatory challenge unlike many great fighters in my division. Moises is an exciting Mexican fighter who will bring a fight. I will be ready to exhibit why I am one of the best pound-for-pound boxers and the world's best at 122 pounds. I’m ready to give fans the best fight out there, and the best is to come the evening of June 17.”

“I'm very excited to have my world title fight with Guillermo Rigondeaux rescheduled for Saturday, June 17 on HBO Pay-Per-View,” said Flores. “I'd like to thank my team at Probox Management and TGB Promotions along with HBO for providing this opportunity. I never stopped my preparations from the original date and look forward to making the Mexican fans proud when I defeat the great Rigondeaux.”

“Roc Nation Sports is thrilled to add Guillermo Rigondeaux’s championship defense against Moises Flores to the Pay-Per-View undercard of Ward-Kovalev 2: ‘The Rematch’,” said Roc Nation President & Chief of Branding and Strategy Michael R. Yormark. “We know these two champions are ready and eager to put on a big performance on boxing’s biggest stage and undoubtedly, ahead of the most anticipated fight of the year.”

“TGB Promotions is proud of this world title opportunity for Moises ‘Chucky’ Flores as he takes on one of the premier fighters in the sport, Guillermo Rigondeaux,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “Chucky is well prepared and looking forward to making the Mexican fans proud of their new World Champion on June 17.”

Call me very skeptical. Seemed to be the story of Money Mayweather. His sparring videos led everyone to believe Floyd was working to let his hands go more and be more aggressive and each time Floyd did what he does best and gear him the best chance to win the fight.

I think Rigo knows his true advantage is being a defensive master and I don't see him giving up that advantage. Maybe if he gets his opponent hurt he might let them go a bit more, but I don't think as an overall strategy he will. It may make him a more exciting fighger, but it takes away from what makes him a nightmare for his opponents.

rigo isnt a light puncher though..his power is legit..there is a thing as being too defensive and that was him facing that jobber on canelo-cotto..he could have gotten rid of him early...hell the dikkens fight was looking like for a min it would play out the same way until he broke dude's jaw with 1 punch..i remember being a little more offensive in fight pre donaire and he wasnt boring to watch

That is true, Rigo has very good power. I am always skeptical of guys changing their styles, especially when it puts them at more risk. Usually pure boxers are content and being pure boxers and we rarely see them step out of it. Personally I don't have a problem with Rigo doing whatever style he thinks gets him a W, however the media seems to hate him for it. The only thing from Rigo (or his team) is to find a way to be more active. That is my knock on how I rank him at PFP. It isn't his skills, I just wish he fought more.

I was blessed enough to witness the first fight live in Vegas. Went down there Team KRUSHER.

I put some good money on KRUSHER to win.

Then I witness him win a clear victory but get robbed.

Spent the night at the bar with mad journalists and writers who scored the fight for KRUSHER and were just as perplexed as I was as to how Ward was awarded the W.

Came back to MA and had to endure all the trash Ward fans were talking because their man won. Scratched my head at how those idiots could take pride in a victory that was as bogus as the one Ward was awarded.

Every time I looked up, Ward was trying to convince ppl he won, and that he was gonna retire than fight the rematch.

James Prince texted Ward to remind him that had a rematch clause in contract.

Now here we go again. Ward gets his name first this time. Finally stepping up.

And ill be going back to Vegas. Better seats. Smaller venue. Gonna hit up the day parties this time at Cosmo.

KRUSHER - Ward 2

KRUSHER by TKO in 7th

And I'm gonna put even MORE money on the Russian. :shaq:
