who killin it?
the fakes get exposed
nope
swizz catalog mostly trash
swizz catalog mostly trash
He didn't define that era though. Timbaland was more defining of that era than Swizz based off the fact, that his sound actually changed Hip Hop.
Why would Timbo use so many RnB joints? With that said he fukked up his chances with that and also Swizz has a better style for this kind of thing.
I wonder who would be able to beat him in this kind of thing. Maybe Havoc, Alchemest, Kanye or Madlib or something.
I wasn’t talking bout Murda Muzik as a album I was saying adrenaline as a song is a masterpiece lol.
what’s ya poison, the realest, allustrious, adrenaline, quiet storm without lil Kim? regardless of what our opinions on Murda Muzik may be, there is no way in anytime is Swizz better then havoc or making his sound outdated escpecially in havocs prime upto 2001
swizz beatz was the main sound of the new era of east coast hip-hop in the late 90s and the sound of ruff ryders.
timbaland…….is a radio jingke super-producer.
people tell you the same thing in every thread and you ignore it everytime.
the crowd reactions to the battle are even further proof, no matter how hard you try to re-shape it.
Timbaland had two joints on Jay's Vol. 2 (only one was a single, granted Swizz had three joints and one was a single)
Timbaland had a joint on Nas's I Am (no Swizz joints anywhere in sight on that album)
Lil' Kim had Timbaland produce "Money Talks".
Timbaland also did "You Owe Me" on Nas's Nastradamus (the only real "radio jingle" he did for an NY rapper at the time)
Timbaland had four joints on Jay's Vol. 3 vs Swizz's two joints (and one was a bonus from RR Vol. 1)
^^^ NYC is Swizz's home base, and you had the biggest NYC rappers gravitating toward Tim's sound vs. Swizz's. By the early '00's, even his crew the Ruff Ryders were getting Timbaland to produce their songs.
Breh, if you're going by what people are saying in every thread, how are you ignoring the overwhelming amount of posts in here disagreeing with you?
I based my posts off crowd reactions and you completely ignored the crowd response to the Missy records and how Timbaland had the crowd during the first part of the battle.
im talking impact & youre talking placements. this is why you never get IT.
as for the battle, you act as if I said that timbaland got booed off the stage or something. I never said he got a bad crowd reaction. it simply paled in comparison to the reactions that his opponent was receiving - hence, the reason why he lost.
Neptunes might have a chance and of course Dre but Rza? I don't know man.because timbo's hip-hop catalog cant compete. I knew he was gonna sneak r&b cuts in the mix.
none of those producers listed could beat swizz in a battle. they don't have the anthems, and their beats generally don't have enough range. the bul just blaze was a better matchup than them, and he still lost to swizz.
I think the neptunes would be an interesting matchup, as long as they filter out their doo-doo.
and of course, theres dr dre and maybe the RZA.
other than that, you'd have to look to producers like mannie fresh - who you would have to go against on a neutral ground to keep it fair.
Those placements are proof of his impact. Timbaland became an it producer that he phased out the dominant sounds of the East Coast at the time. It was during that time, that more and more East Coast artists were branching out to other sounds (specifically Virginia). Beats begin to have more of a bounce with rhythms more unorthodox than boom bap.
It didn't pale in comparison. The reaction to Tim's records didn't pale in comparison to Swizz's until "Down Bottom" and "Ruff Ryder Anthem" were dropped back to back and the counter to those records were "Jump Off" and "Drunk In Love". I already acknowledged this. That said, the response to Swizz's records during the sequence of "Get Ur Freak On", "Work It", "nikka What, nikka Who" paled in comparison.
Neptunes might have a chance and of course Dre but Rza? I don't know man.
Mannie Fresh and Swizz would be interesting too though.
im not wasting anymore time arguing with you about the 1st part. you can just stay in the dark.
back to the battle:
all the biggest pops of the whole battle were for swizz records.
those timbo songs might've got a better reception than some of the random picks swizz had, and they might've got slapped on next to those.
that doesn't mean that timbo was winning the battle with those songs. and the crowd didn't even get that hype for any of those records in the bolded, except "nikka what".
You are the one who is in the dark on the first part of the post. The East gravitated more toward Tim beginning in 1997. He was a staple on some of the biggest East Coast albums and artists from that point forward. Then you had them looking to Virginia where Bink, Nottz, and The Neptunes were also becoming prominent on big East Coast releases.
You ain't even see the battle then because those weren't some random records. These were Swizz's Jay Z records that weren't getting the reception that Tim's were. Then we when "Get Ur Freak On" was played, the crowd was singing right along. When "Work It" was played, they were dancing. If you're in here talking about crowd response, he was definitely winning at the point and Swizz struggled to counter.
timbo was sought out for singles. im not going in circles with you, so don't bother naming album cuts timbo did, that didn't make a dent.
they played their jay-z beats back-to-back. missy was a different segment. and while a couple of those missy beats got a good reception, the crowd wasn't that hype over it. you happy cuz you saw some people dancing. the crowd danced to everything. you lookin real desperate right now.
Breh, again, Timbo had records that weren't even singles that were a big deal. Swizz was out here helming albums and his productions took a backseat to records like "Slippin" (which is held in higher regard than anything Swizz contributed to X's career) and "Ryde or Die Chick", which you had even the streets and the clubs riding with and that song is a highlight on that album. Yet you want to write off Tim as a singles producer and that's completely asinine considering Swizz challenged Tim. Swizz wouldn't be out here challenging Tim if Tim wasn't a respected producer in Hip Hop. It wouldn't even make sense. Swizz is still challenging Timbaland even after Summer Jam clearly not the mark of someone who won. He's taunting Tim to drop an album the same day as his album Poison.
All of their Jay joints weren't played back to back. "Is That Your Chick" was played later and I think Swizz's "On To The Next One" was played later too and neither one of those songs got much of a response.
To each their own agree to disagree regardless u admit that havocs prime is one of the best so we’ll leave it at that. Murda Muzik is where havocs prime goes too for me and I said 2001 because cormega realness had thun and kicko and that is one of my favorite havoc beats but was obviously made around Murda Muzik. Although havoc nvr helmed another classic his best beats we’re always high level post 2001.its not about my opinion. they clearly didn't translate well into the 2000s. and I gave the reasons why.
whatever me or you may personally like or dislike is besides the point. theres stuff that I like that was outdated upon release. that doesn't stop it from being outdated tho.
as for my opinion, im sorry but that song was and I have the cassette but don't even remember the other joints.
as for havoc as a producer, his prime was the mid-90s era. that's where his legacy is at. I mean cmon, was he even still the main producer for his own group by 2001?
