So, why in the world would Vince book Steve Austin to job to Brock with no build on Raw?

austin wouldnt of got booed over hogan lol
austin could barely get booed aa a heel
rock also got booed when he faced brock lesnar the first time lol
fans love him, but wont hesitate to turn on him.

i dont recall austin getting booed as a babyface ever. and he had louder pops than the rock, some of da loudest reactions of all time actually.

hogan vs austin was always the first option. neither wanted to lose to eachother. also austin didnt think the match would live up to the hype.
They were in Montreal. Hogan was a god there. Austin was def gonna be booed which is why he wanted no parts of that match.

That's Nov 1999 when Austin was on his way out :mjlol: and I'm gonna have to go look at the footage to even see cuz you have a history of claiming Rock getting bigger pops than Austin that just aren't true :russ:
Austin was more important overall but Rock was definitely out popping him in the 2nd half of 99 :usure:

rock and hogan have been booed as baby faces on numerous occasions in their prime lol
you can't name me one time austin was ever booed as a baby face and there was a massive struggle to get him booed as a heel.
austin is huge everywhere, including toronto (they weren't in montreal)
you're livin fantasies if u think austin was gettin booed lmao
it has literally never happened

austin already said why the match didn't happen and it was vince's first option for a reason
rock and hogan was a back up plan

This is true. Doesn't change the fact Austin wanted no parts of Hogan in Toronto.
This was Hoegans first WrestleMania back the fans were def gonna pick him over a flabby and sick Austin.

Always thought this was so damn stupid to do. I don’t blame Austin for jamming. Like he said, he coulda handled it better, but fuxk it. Dude was likely burned out anyway.

Austin was notoriously paranoid over his spot:hubie:he Knew what he was doing by turning the match down. Don’t get me wrong I love Austin but let’s be real here.

Rock got turned on more than Austin but he still wasn't no #2 guy.Like JR said it was 1a 1b.

They were equals.Austin laid down the foundation, epitomizes the Attitude era and he's
the most popular attraction ever IMO but Rock
was absurdly red hot before Austin injury and
and was already one of the biggest draws in
pro wrestling history.

A lot of Austin stans really undersell how huge Rock was to prop up Austin.

Yeah,in 2005/2006 but not in 2002.It was always gonna be Rock/Hogan.Rock has pretty much
confirmed it and so has Nash.

I don't see Austin/Hogan having the same chemistry so obviously it was the right decision.
I hope you don't think I am.

Rock was amazing.

I feel blessed to watch Austin and Rock have their eras intertwine during my peak as a wrestling fan.

It's just a fact though that Austin was more popular. That's not a knock on Rock. That's not saying Rock wasn't huge. He was. Austin just always had more popularity. The 1a 1b thing is fine but Austin was always 1a. To me it just shows how special the era was that Rock, arguably the second most popular superstar of all time, was amazingly behind Stone Cold.

I'm not naive though. Rock took his popularity and turned it into him being the biggest movie star in the world. And now his legacy and popularity trumps all because he's big to all fans, not just wrestling fans. Austin may be bigger in the wrestling bubble, and he is fairly popular to non wrestling fans too, but he's definitely not The Rock in the general landscape of popularity.

Maybe 50/50 but unlike Rock at no point did you feel the crowd was done with Austin

It was probably coming with the soft booking in 02 and he got out at the right time to avoid it though

Even as a face he was getting lukewarm reactions. Compare that to 98 Austin and its like night and day. Austin was lowkey washed in late 01/02.
And theres the answer right there

Austin wasn't bout shyt at that time:francis:.....and now that we see what the Ruthless Aggression Era was all about with the perspective of hindsight....there's a reason there was no Stone Cold Steve Austin episode:ohhh::usure:

Matter of fact there's an entire ep dedicated to showing just why he wasn't shyt in 02
that weekly Hell Raising schtick was played tf out and Austin had nothing to offer but that dumbass commissioner role

Austin was born and died in the Attitude era, he couldn't survive outside it

Didn't have the in ring skill to resurrect himself like HBK
Didn't have the Charisma to reinvent himself like Hollywood Rock
........
Didn't have his eye set to the future like Triple H

He was the right guy for a right time, but thats it:yeshrug:...I never miss an opportunity to remind folks Austin wasn't nearly as great as people make him out to be frfr....
