Austin Hogan was always the goal the company wanted but Austin was being a dikk lol
Austin also was still just as hot (albeit a heel) in 2001 when Rock left. It took Austin leaving in late 1999 for Rock to finally take the #1 guy spot as much as you so desperately argue that Rock was more popular than Austin in 99 lol

i dont recall austin getting booed as a babyface ever. and he had louder pops than the rock, some of da loudest reactions of all time actually.
hogan vs austin was always the first option. neither wanted to lose to eachother. also austin didnt think the match would live up to the hype.

was absurdly red hot before Austin injury and
