I was watching Fox News last night for the fukkery, and this question came up. GOP Strategist seem to think they DO NOT need to change.

They believe that they won enough of the popular vote that simply a better campaign or different candidate would have won the election. Seems delusional.

It goes nowhere, it`ll be the same script as before.

Obama will be in for 4 more, people will get sick of him and want a "change" just like they did with Bush and Clinton before him and you`ll have a republican in office in 2016.

This one was bigger than 08. First one could be written off as cacs throwing the brother man a bone. This one is Barack as the undisputed champ. He unified the belts. Can't take nothing from him.

I kinda see your point... But how did they want change after Clinton when Gore won the popular vote?

And demographically the country was much different in 2000 than it will be in 2016...

You can't depend on history repeating himself with the trends we are gonna experience...

This one reminded me so much of Bush/Kerry.

One side wanted the encumbet out so badly, but the guy they were given as the as their representative was such a joke that they couldn't pull it off.

Also think Barack won because Halo 4 dropped yesterday and all the racists were online calling everyone a ****** and didn't have time to go out and vote.

So you are going to ignore all facts and trends.

Bush SR. won 60% of the white male vote and got over 400 electorates

Romney won 60% of of the white male vote and got blew out in the electorate

There was a time in this country when only the White Male could vote :wow:

George W. Bush could possibly be the last white heterosexual male president over 50 in the United States...

That would be one hell of a legacy to leave..

fixed it for ya :whew:

Yeah, and I think that the next president has to be from Gen X. The boomers are getting old and tired and most of them cannot keep up with changing demographics and trends. Imagine that, a president from Gen X

Nah you're right about Clinton, I was gonna change that because you're right about that.

But this whole term of Obama reminds me of Bush so much, the other sides hates the guy so much and can't get him out. But we`ll see in 4 years shyt will probably still be awful for America and they`ll be able to say "See that's what 8 years of Dem's get you". Bam, insert republican.

I bet you that when Obama leaves office in 2016, there are gonna be a lot of people screaming "4 more years" similar to Clinton when he left in 2000. As well as the c a c population starting to shrink due to record suicides and negative birthrates as well as the aging boomers.:rambo:

Romney was fairly moderate....he just fit the bill of the old white male republican that ppl are turned off from.

We'll see...the exaggeration from both sides regarding so many stupid issues really turned me off this political cycle.

I just really hope we don't go down the same path as these in the red Western Euro countries.

He came up on hard right rhetoric... didnt he call himself the most conservative conservative or some bullshyt like that

Dudes like Romney and Ron Paul have no business getting mixed up with the GOP. Romney had the $$$ to run as an independent and if he had done that from the get go, going up against Santorum + Obama as the big two choices he would have won

Since the status quo is still in place, I don't think this election will do anything to make the Republicans question their tactics.
The midterm elections however could be a tipping point for the party if they lose the House and don't gain any Senate seats. But by the same token if they keep the House and take the Senate they will see that as a validation of their philosophy.

great great post sir

can I add something to this???

Can we adopt the disuse of the word party in HL? It creates this separation between the electorate and the elected. It creates this impression, that the views of the voters are somewhat distant from this non living entity designated as the "party." It allows the 40-50% of the population that believes in the republican doctrine, to hide behind the anonymity of "the party." I'm not calling for a manhunt. I'm simply asking for the electorate to take some intellectual responsibility for their philosophies.

When you remove the word party, and say total republican electorate, you quickly see how difficult it will be to extinguish the biases and ill-informed opinions of the individual voter.

I say this, to say, the republican "party" is going nowhere.

Getting put on the same stage of clowns like Santorum definitely hurts the guys on the right that have actual ideas and arent social loons.

I dont think anyone was beating Obama though. The women vote is huge and there are a lot of bitter single women out there.

This doesn't make sense. The Republicans had 4 years to come up with a sound strategy and the best they could do is what you just said... Count on negativity against the incumbent for a win. It's not gonna work. They need to change their strategy, move away from the religious nutjobs and embrace the center.

A moderate candidate from the right could've won this election.
