Todays producers are better than most of those 2000 era producers. I guess they added better noises to the fruity loops:mjlol:

This is because so much easier for today's producers. Modules and and multiple keyboards are know longer needed. There's so many programs with top notch premade sounds and loops that almost anyone can do it. Have you used Omnisphere 2?

I didn't know this was a controversial take. Thought it was well established that '99-'04 years in hip-hop were awful.

All of that stuff, including 9th Wonder and Neptunes production, kind of all sounded the same.

Interesting

The Neptunes sound and influence on music is still there too. Armani White had a hit song “Billie Eilish” in 2022 sampling Noreaga’s song Nothin’ produced by The Neptunes in 2002 :wow:

That's not a good example though because Nothin doesn't sound like their usual video game spaceship beats that people say aged bad.

Which producer(s) did you prefer from this era? Luda went crazy on this track, but this song would not be the same without their unorthodox production.

NEPTUNES HAD SOME DOPE shyt.

IM JUST SPEAKING ON THAT PARTICULAR BEAT.

THAT BEAT WAS PRETTY TRASH.
LUDAS PERFORMANCE MADE
THE BEAT ACCEPTABLE.

PUT ANY OTHER RAPPER
ON THAT TRACK AND IT DOES NOTHING.

bullfukkinshyt!!! Everything is clicking on a mouse today for the new guys. Do you know the process of just making a beat, tracking it to tape, and mixing it back then? That process alone could take up to a week sometimes. Then you had beat machines like the Sp 1200 with only 10 seconds of sample time, but you could only sample 2.5 seconds at the most. After you sample that 2.5 seconds in full, then you had 1.9 seconds left and so forth. That's how producers came up with sampling in 45 rpm and pitching down t get more time. If you put these new producers in front of an s950/sp 1200 combo, they wouldn't even know how to load up 1 sound. You can't be serious. That's like saying today's djs are better than those of the early 80s when they have cue buttons on the mixers and turntables that won't skip relative mode. Give any new up and coming dj a pair of 70s sl 1200s and let's see him do the same tricks he's doing on Serato.

Ya'll just hate beats that don't sound loke some variation of RZA/Premo/Pete Rock/Alchemist. That's fine, but to dismiss it because you don't like it isn't. Timbaland and The Neptunes are geniuses.

I definitely have a diverse taste when it comes to beats.
Crazy thing is im not even that particular or picky when it comes to beats. But I do know when something doesnt sound cohesive and just sounds like a bunch of noise:scust:

Neptunes beats sound like loading up a whole circus in one Uhaul truck. An elephent trumpet here, flopping clown shoes as the backdrop, small monkey playing the cymbals, and cant forget the kazoo:mjlol:

I was actually impressed he made Alright by Kendrick. But then i found out i probably wouldnt have thought it was that great without what Sounwave added to it.

The argument yall have is that it fit that era which i admit. Alot of beats sounded like cheap, robotic, manufactured noise. Not sure why its wrong to say it sounds wack today and didnt age well though. Dont people say that about 80s and 90s production all the time? What makes yall think the 2000s should be immune:gucci:?

Oh really:krs:?!!

That aint shyt:martin:.
Do you know they used to have to hold auditions, and put a whole damn band together? Had to wait for Muddy Draws Paige to catch a bus from Tenessee to Florida, hopeing he didnt get snatched up by the Klan becsuse he was the only saxophonist who could pull it off? All that, just to compose a damn instrumental. But you talking to me about more buttons back in the 2000s and less sample time.

So you must really think lowly of the people who sampled,if your trying to minimize what producers now do. The differences your talking about are small, When you compare it to what old heads had to go through to make music. So excuse me if im not going to disqualify todays producers for having it a little easier.
