Look, all of you stating "we did that once, dont need to go back/political reasons, its just rocks, etc", I understand ur points.

BUT this was & is to this day the BIGGEST thing humans have ever accomplished, and that was nearly 40 years ago and we haven't ever tried to duplicate it?

Do you know how much money could be made these days off a documentary/reality type show about travel to the moon? Billions. In this new media age, there's billions of dollars on the table should someone travel to the moon and turn it into a show.

NASA estimates it would cost around 104 billion dollars to return astronauts to the moon. And of course that's just an estimate, it could be higher.

In contrast, an extremely popular reality TV show might make like 5 million per episode. American Idol, which is the most popular reality show by far, made 6.6 million per episode. So that's maybe 200-300 million per season. And that's the MOST popular show. Contrast that to the 104 billion it would cost to send somebody to the moon.

Can you understand why making a "reality show" about going to the moon and somehow making money off it is completely unrealistic? Even if everybody on the planet with a TV watched it, it still wouldn't come close to covering the cost. It probably wouldn't even cover one percent of it. Breh, I'm not sure you realize just how expensive a mission to the moon is.

Nevermind the fact that there's not much interesting to do on the moon besides look at rocks and jump around, so it probably wouldn't be very popular.

And again, I'm not anti- space travel, I'm just a realist.

The I in Team
I'm gonna put out a list:

Kidney dialysis machines
Computer-Aided Tomography (CAT) scan
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Modern pacemakers
Freeze-dried food
Enriched baby food
Cordless power tools & appliances
Disposable diapers
Rotary blood pump
Fiber optics
Satellite dish
Bar codes
Ear thermometer
Fire-resistant fabrics
Smoke detector
Thermal gloves and boots
Velcro

Just a few things created from the space age. For all the costs that people harp on about space travel, it forces scientists to come up with new and innovative ways to cut cost and make the travel possible. Plus the moon is more valuable that most of you suggest. Water is on the moon and setting up a base there would make space travel cheaper in the long run. Plus with a water supply there, as well as the sun you have a sustainable power supply. The combination of low gravity, solar and hydrogen energy would make future space missions to mars and other places exponentially cheaper. So in my opinion it's worth it to spend now in order to gain later.

:wtf:

Damn, Sanford & Son was just coming on and we aint been back since?

The aliens on the moon must've treated us like black ppl driving in the south in the '60's on some, "Don't you ever let me catch you around these here parts again"

nothing to exploit on the moon.

if we found gold or some kind of energy yeah we would be back in a heart beat and exploiting it.

prob will be a heaven for the super rich when this place becomes overpopulated and we start killing each other for resources.

I've always wondered the same thing. How we gonna go in the 60s and then NEVER go back again. Especially with the advance in technology I would imagine it would be exponentially safer and easier.

But the government is lying to us about so much, it wouldn't surprise me if they have a base on Mars by now.

the u.s. only went so they could say they went there before russia during cold war era dummy smh some of yall so stupid

There's no real point in going back to the moon. It's just a big rock. There's nothing there. It would be a waste of time and money.

Agreed the original premise if the thread was more interesting.

So we all agree the aliens told the humans if we catch you wandering around our galaxy without permission you better get down or lay down space beef>>>earth beef :birdman: ?

There's one side of the moon that never faces earth so what could be back there? Observers from earth will never know.
