That Oprah cosign was HUGE for him. Black movies aren't doing 50 mill with just us alone. He got a decent crossover audience at this point now too.


I just hope that the Peeples movie isn't the end of him giving other black directors and writers a break using his production company and studio.

It's bad enough that the amount of screens for Peeples was limited as fukk, but hopefully he can recoup so others will get a chance too.

I've seen the production budget listed at 20 Million (which is about what his films average). So that leaves us not knowing for certain.

I actually thought about seeing peebles because as far as I know he didn't have shyt to do with it other than put money behind it...looks to be a decent enough, if shamelessly derivative, negro version of meet the parents...I'm fan of all three of the leads in kerry Washington, david allen grier and Craig Robinson... anybody see it?

well damn I didnt even realize that.

True story on Friday I went to the movies with the wife to see gatsby 3d. Tickets were sold out and the only show available was peeples. So we was like "fukk it, let's watch it ". Tell me why we the ONLY 2 people watching the movie. The entire fukking theatre was empty. I had my feet up on the chair and I farted loud a few times. Movie was funny tho, but I can see why nobody would go see it. You better off watching it on Netflix
