That's the reason that when Harry Potter was big. The studios gave the green light to Narnia and a bunch of other kids fantasy movies/franchises. Does anyone here think that "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" would have been made otherwise?????
It's the reason we will get a million disaster movies at once. Or a million Teen vampire/monster fantasy movies at once.
It's also the reason we got The Wood and The Best Man, Love and Basketball, Soul Food all within a few years.
Boyz In The Hood opened the doors for Poetic Justice, Juice and Menace to Society and Dead Presidents.

Temptations is right in the middle of the pack as far as his movies go. Pretty good for one of his movies that didnt have a play associated with it.
The movie is going to make more money once the dvd drops too.
To be fair, Tyler didn't start out ballin either. He funded his own shyt from doing his chitlin circuit plays. Also, Some movies just make more than others. You can't be mad that documentaries and more positive shyt sells either. Look at the fukkery on TV that gets the best ratings...
Spike released Red Hook (sp?) Summer last year and it was aite, nothing special. Spike has had some duds so he can't act like his shyt don't stink.
Point is that it's one thing to get mad at Tyler's hustle, but again he knows his audience and they support him. No different than anyone else.

Who are you Jon Feltheimer, telling us what "Hollywood studios" are in the business of doing? Companies are looking to profit off of their properties, that's it. Few properties and directors can provide guaranteed phenomenal returns, so you deal in the space of grossing 10 million is a hell of a lot better than losing 10 million.
If there is a director who can consistently provide a return of 10 million+ (much less the 20-30 million Tyler often delivers), he is considered a commodity.
Again, a look at the top grossing Lion's Gate films released this year. Temptation sitting at #2 .

Tyler Perry only ENDORSED "Peeples" it's not his film. It is IMPOSSIBLE for one of his films to flop. His films generally cost about 10-20 mil to make and his return is mostly double PLUS some. He isn't slowing down anytime soon. As long as the negress movement is in full effect, he is in business.
