C'mon. You can't look at X-Pac and tell me that isn't offensive. I'm sure if the camera panned to ONE black person in the crowd, you wouldn't witness the reaction of "oh, these guys are just having fun".

what is so offensive about it though?

Why can't a white guy make his face black if he's trying to imitate and/or impersonate another black person???

Would you have been LESS bothered if he did the exact same thing just minus the face paint?

Fair enough I guess.

I mean I guess the skit works whether they put the makeup on or not.

I dipped out for several years after like 02, so I missed out on Shelton Benjamin.

I vaguely remember seeing various clips of him in team angle but outside of that I don't have much knowledge of his solo career.

Was he legit? Could he have been a big star?

i could see the thing with the bananas.

but i was talkin about the video where they mocked the nation.

i remember that shyt like it was yesterday. shyt was hysterical. EVERYONE thought it was hysterical. i really don't think there was any racist intent. they put on blackface cause the nation was black, i really can't see there being anything more to it than that.

should i feel offended as a white person when eddie murphy and dave chapelle do "whiteface"? lol of course not. shyt is funny.

The thing is "whiteface" as you call it has only been used in comedic instances with no real history or racism or hatred attached to it. The same cannot be said for Blackface as that was specially done to demean and antagonize black people.

Blame racist white generations who were reckless with their actions that created this PC line everyone has to tip toe around.

come on don't go there. that's not what i mean.

i understand the ignorance and bigotry that's associated with the history of blackface. i just don't think it applies to what DX was doin.

are white ppl just NOT allowed to impersonate black ppl at any cost?

Well who are you do decide when its cool to use blackface or not? You are not black, by your own admission, it is not your call. You've already said you don't have an issue with Whiteface, good that IS something you can make the call on, but you don't speak for black people or what black people should and should not be offended by. If EVERY or even MOST black people take issue with something like that, you should be able to respect the fact that even if you don't see it, they see something clearly wrong with this...

And I'm not saying this to poke at you, I'm really wanting you to understand the other side of this perspective.

One of the best in ring performers the WWE had on one of the most stacked rosters they ever had and probably a top ten athlete the WWE has ever had. Remember Shelton is a guy that LEGIT beat Brock Lesnar in a shoot wrestling match.

Why Shelton never got a chance with the strap is probably one of the strongest arguments for the WWE's racism there is.

Great wrestler but garbage on the mic. he was not big enough to be a non talking monster like lesner so he got a bunch of dumb gimmicks.

1st question, Its more about them disregarding the negative connotations of blackface for a cheap laugh (which is arguably MORE racist when you think about it).

2nd question, for the same reason a white guy can't say the word ******.

3rd question, Yes I think we all would have been less bothered had it been done minus the face paint. Notice in the skit the only ones who actually did the blackface were HHH and X-Pac, Road Dogg, Chyna and Billy Gunn pulled their roles fine without facepaint but HHH and X-Pac just HAD to push that extra notch. Looking at HHH's history, its easy to see why :mjpls:
