So the longshoremen are about to go on strike on the East and Gulf coasts.

The robots are far less productive...so based on needs, no they can't.
it's already happening in china :yeshrug:and AI is only getting better

i don't think this strike is gonna be looked at favorably by the public. you've got this union thug boss out here making 900k a year, owning a fukking yacht, threatening the economy right before the election; nobody's trying to hear this shyt right now. good luck with this, i guess

China is China.

A union president making high 6 figures to keep jobs and pensions secure is nothing compared to a shipping line CEO giving himself a $4B Christmas bonus off of the work longshoremen do. That's the money they're striking for.

That's funny, because I've heard multiple analysts saying we are very far behind the rest of the world when it comes to shipping ports, production-wise, because the rest of the world is already deep into automation.

Only people that don't understand computers/automation/robots/programming could ever think something automated won't perform better than a human in 99.9% of situations...

Receipts for what? The analysts?

Edit: I'm not searching my Youtube history this minute, but take AI word for it...

"Yes, the USA is generally behind other countries in terms of automation at shipping ports. While some U.S. ports have adopted automation technologies to improve performance and increase capacity, the extent of automation is still relatively limited compared to ports in other high-wage, developed countries12.

For instance, many ports around the world use automated cranes and robotic cargo handlers extensively, but these technologies are less common in the United States2.
Additionally, American ports that do incorporate automated technologies often rank lower in overall efficiency compared to their international counterparts".

Breh, I'm not sure what country yall be thinking we live in but the USA isn't the "American Dream" from 50 years ago. Our country has gone to shyt and is behind in a lot of categories when compared to other countries.

They've chosen to not say which company and CEO.

Oh let me guess it's a lie :skip:
demanding 70% raises when your industry can be automated and done better, and your union boss makes a million dollars a year, doesn't seem like a great fukking gamble. but what would i know :yeshrug:

I'm not even surprised to see the 'I care about American citizens' guy in here, advocating against some of the most critical workers in this country being paid what they're worth. I'm not surprised to see him advocating for the destruction of their livelihoods, either. He's just an all around boot-licking piece of shyt.

This says the US is behind in automation itself, not behind the productivity of automated ports.

this is a blatant lie. automation will be humiliating longshoremen's efforts within a decade

Automation makes production much faster than any human can so yes, we are behind.

You don't understand computers and programming, huh? If programmed correctly, there is very little a human can do better or more efficiently than a machine.

We also thought we'd have floating cars by now :dead:

Except it doesn't. You don't understand heavy load machines that have to execute a mechanical function, huh?
