They’ve apparently been on this the whole time. What TBA was referencing in his video was from April 2018. Almost 2 years ago.
In reality, I really believe a good majority of those who support Tariq and PBT; FBA, are black Americans who are a bit more conservative, tend to be more about entrepreneurship, and while believing we are owed reparations, don’t necessarily believe they will ever happen. That’s ok, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but working side by side with ADOS was never going to truly work out, as those who subscribe to the ADOS message are for big government and putting the US governments feet to the fire, forcing them to do what should’ve been done right after slavery.
Baby bonds are not part of the ados agenda written by Tone in 2019. Black Agenda – #ADOS
TBA/PBT are using an older study called "What we get wrong about closing the racial gap" published in 2018 in which Tone provided data and for which he did infographics for on his channel. The paper discusses the myths and failed policies surrounding black people closing the wealth gap all of which Tone supports.
However, that paper was co-authored and presented differing possible solutions to close the gap. Tone and other authors of the same study like Sandy Darity don't co-sign a federal job guarantee and baby bonds over or before reparations as fix like the other authors do. This dissension has been a public debate between all parties involved since the publishing of that paper and the ramping up of #ados in 2019.
These are the facts that have been present for two years. Why don't some of you guys know this?
TBA only NOW after their mix up with Tariq is purposely creating a false narrative around these associations and positions.
---
The guys who listen to TBA/PBT don't want to admit they are wrong or being dishonest about anything because they identify with them or there's a confirmation bias for those that never liked Tone and Yvette to begin with and/or never agreed with their conclusions surrounding black wealth.
Good point. I was listening to Tariq recently when he was going in on Yvette and Tone, and he said something to the effect of, "You guys think black people can't raise ourselves up because we're poor, but hell, lots of white people started out poor and built businesses..." It was classic "bootstraps" rhetoric, totally dismissive of the ADOS message of inherited disadvantage. I was a little surprised that he was so blatantly "off code" against the key argument being used to push for reparations, but I shouldn't have been. Tariq is a self made guy who believes in entrepreneurship, and was always basically a bootstrapper, until he jumped on the reparations bandwagon, which he now seems to be hopping off. I think he even said that reparations wouldn't be a major point of discussion at the FBA conference. In reality, I really believe a good majority of those who support Tariq and PBT; FBA, are black Americans who are a bit more conservative, tend to be more about entrepreneurship, and while believing we are owed reparations, don’t necessarily believe they will ever happen. You would have a point if Tone didn’t actually tweet out this “old study” himself just a few weeks ago. He posted it, claimed it was his work, and when people watched the video they were like “wtf”. This is all Tone’s fault, if that report didn’t represent ADOS then he should have never posted it and claimed it.
Nothing off about me but I feel the same about you so guess we evenLol, ok.

Tone doesn't support baby bonds and the like over or in lieu of reparations. You're taking one his infographics summaries of the 2018 "racial wealth gap study" in which he mentions some of the proposed policy fixes in unison as confirmation bias to the narrative TBA is spinning.
Tone has gone on record countless times saying reparations is the only thing that closes the gap.
Tone is not going to dissociate himself from that study when he agrees with the findings. He's wedded to that data which is why he continues to post it even though he may disagree with some of the other co-authors on fixes/solutions.
Exactly, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with them thinking this way. I, at one point, felt the same way, as before I shifted in my ways in thinking, I was conservative as well and thought the same as many in that crowd. I, simply, changed my way of thinking, and align more with Yvette, Tone, and Darity now.Good point.
