Everyone wants something for nothing now. shyt annoys me.
"fukk buyin an extra controller for N64 yo. Ima wait til they make my SNES controller compatible. Oh yea make sure I can play my NES carts in there too
"
mmmhmmm.

PS4 leak brings rumours of specs, controllers and multi-user logins -- PlayStation Universe
this report right here makes it sound like basically the controller is going to be what connects you to the console as a gamer. that sounds redundant as hell, i know.
but basically, youll be able to have 2-4 people sitting in a room, all logged into their playstation name, all earning trophies, and that light bar is going to correspond to the color of their avatar on the screen. (and yes, i know, 360 had this since launch, but fwiw, i've been jealous as hell of that feature since launch
)
theres a reason it's a new controller for a new system.
uncharted 4 is going to come out making full use of that touch pad, and people on here want naughty dog to port it down to ps3 level so you can't use all the features?
and all the people saying that touch pad is useless... have you stepped outside your house lately and seen an angry bird every 5 yards? one of the most popular (if not the most popular) video game franchises on the planet right now.
now IM not saying that game is great (it is,) but sony is basically allowing its users to play ANY big mobile game on their ps4 now, just with the inclusion of that touch pad. it might not seem like a big deal, but if you watched that whole presentation, you can see their goal is to eventually have the playstation brand EVERYWHERE--from your living room, to your tablet, to your laptop, to your phone.
it sounds crazy, but if you could go from playing fruit ninja on the way home from work, save it to the cloud, turn on your ps4 while the wife preps dinner, and finish up whatever level you were on...
i think a lot of people are missing the whole "social" aspect of it. yes, it's going to "connect" you with friends, but it's also meant to be a more fluid experience... gaming everywhere. so, to accomplish that, the playstation 4 needs to be as similar to the vita as possible, which needs to be as similar to a tablet, or whatever phone sony has coming down the pike... probably the xperia SOMETHING, to fully utilize the playstation suite.
