no they didnt want to get embarrased by asian dudes even back then

OK, then why is he actin as it's such a new phenomenon to him now?

Like he's finally realizing how race works?
If true, he should be used to this LONG before he got to the NBA. He would get called more offensive names by amateurs than he would be NBA on a court with mics everywhere.

All this is why I call BS on what he's saying.
1. There was a precedent prior to all of those players.

2. You're talking about the appeal of perhaps the biggest ethnic fanbase in the world. To not at least acknowledge that and see what effect that has on that fanbase is irresponsible if we're talking business.

Ohhhh ok, and who exactly are we "acknowledging"....just anyone in an NBA arena who LOOKS Asian?

niggga please, Lin has a Harvard degree he couldve easily gotten a non sports or entertainment job and faced no racism whatsoever, boo hoo you got to deal with nikkas wanting to go hard on the court where youre making millions, you wanna compare that to institutionalized racism blacks face on a daily basis? Im glad we didnt sign this overhyped chink. My nikka Ray Felton playing better than him

The fact is that there are black players that in addition to the fact that he is a new "phenom" that is somewhat unproven that is getting a lot of ungarnered attention as we'll as the fact that he is asian both play a part in dudes comin at him harder. End of story. I'm not disagreein with your point at all. What I'm sayin is that there are black players in the nba that don't wana get embarrased by him because he is asian

Think about it. Could YOU tell the difference between who is or isn't Chinese/Vietnamese/Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese/etc. just off first glance?

That's no different than Hispanics being confused for one another or whatever other example you wanna use. Do you want arenas to have fans fill out a census survey just in case they accidentally pan to them when they shouldn't?

you in denial bro.:smugbiden:

same way dude went hard at KG, Lebron, Kobe and so on because of the hype since they jump to the NBA from high school.

You think dudes are trying to get embarrassed by an asian dude? :birdman: Lin is going about it the wrong way though, once he meets that challenge and show that he's worth the hype Niccas will back off. :jawalrus:

I see what you're saying, but Lin isn't a threat like them dudes you mentioned. :beli:

Him being a PG probably had a lot to do with it.

and side note: to everyone here who keeps saying "oh, Lin ain't living up to the hype, contract, etc." The season is less than 10 games old. Chill out.

People would chill out but since it seems like he already wants to cop out of any self blame for his struggling saying it's racial that nba players are going at him hard then he deserves the criticism.

The article is in reference to how his life has been since he blew up, not these first couple of weeks.

its not they dont want to get embarrassed its that they see the underlying racism in him being overhyped and they feel as a black man they have to show its bullshiit.

Lin brought racist whites back to basketball "oh hes not a thug" FOH if you support him as a black man, youre supporting racism.

Don't try to play me like that. :comeon:

I understand the novelty and the uniqueness of the situation. I get it........but to a point. Then it becomes insulting to my intelligence.

There's other players in the NBA of all races and they never did any of that for them. They never showed random German immigrants in restaurants cheering for Dirk in a regular season game. They never showed restaurants full of Turkish immigrants or people in the crowd cheering for Hedo Turkulu or Peja Stojackovic...that's all I'm saying. And all of those dudes are better or were better at one point than Jeremy Lin. And there's been other Asian NBA players before him.

I guess my point is, it was insulting b/c it wasn't genuine.

The difference is Jeremy Lin is American born and raised. No one really cared about Sun Yue. All the other players are international players you mentioned were born overseas.
