The last movie made $1B+, the second $800M and the first $700M, that's a $2B franchise and you're talkin about why Paramount are green lighting more 
. As seen with the flop and wack ass Pacific Rim, no, not any bum could have made a Transformers series successful, Transformers was a niche franchise before the films, could have easily flopped due to it looking overly corny, "geeky" and having no human element like Pacific Rim did.

that aint the transformers I remember, that looks like a big ass music video with walking scrap heaps and a million explosions. HE CREATED MINSTREL SHOW TRANSFORMERS
Second film was trash no doubt, however it was a product of The Writers strike, so deserves a pass. Why do you think we got crap like this, Terminator Salvation, GI:Joe and X-MEN Origins:Wolverine all in one summer.
