Except you kow the decades of comics from x men that you can read and the fact the x men films are well liked.
kids aint just gonna read shyt for no reason, especially when the characters aren't even included in the current shyt.
As for the movies, they make money, wouldn't say they are well liked, out of the series there are probably 2 films that people generally say are good films X2 and First Class

the fantastic 4 being forgotten happened 20 years ago

If I ever have kids, I gotta pass my comics down, fam.

As for the films, while they're mostly well-made, entertaining movies*, they don't really live up as X-MEN movies. (* except for The Last Stand and Origins, which were both hot garbage.)
While I get why they made the decisions that they did with the first few movies (people weren't ready for the Avengers yet in the early 2000's), the bar has since been raised, and the movies are making some serious mistakes. Key characters like Cyclops and Storm are grossly misused, we've yet to see some of the best villains done justice apart from Magneto, Mystique is NOT a hero, and we've still never seen any of the alien characters like the Shi'ar.

I don't care whether Disney or Fox gets to make the movies, I just want to see the X-men done right.

I'm with you just hope we can see the X-Men done properly, but I don't think we'll see that unless Fox studios goes under.

They'll be rebooting the franchise for a 3rd time in hope of saving it again after what 5 years again?

The last 3 films in their universe are the highest grossing of the franchise.

You can say they didn't have a long term plan sure, no disputing that. You can say the time line doesn't make sense and that it's been messy behind the scenes sure.

To say that it isn't a well liked franchise is an outright lie and just how YOU feel.

They've only made 2 bad films. X men 3 and wolverine origins.

And even if you wanted to defend it fron the business side.

Days of future past, apocalypse and deadpool are the 3 highest grossing x men or x men related films.

So marvel doing this has literally had no effect on fox because they're bigger than ever right now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see old man Logan be the highest grossing wolverine film.
This may be but what else would you have them do? Take every opportunity possible to promote characters that benefit another company more than their own? What they're doing makes sense even if it's not the most crowd pleasing action. They made mistakes in the past and there's no changing that now but every step of the way from here on out what you don't do is steer further into the mistake you made.

Again the money they make on comics at this point is peanuts in comparison to what those movies are doing so for them to diminish the X-Men's profile in all other avenues they actually have the rights to them in doesn't hurt them much.

So you piss in fans face for literally no benefit?

How is that a smart decision?

They could be embracing fox and trying to work with them. Not purposely trying to tank a property and making the relationship even more toxic.

And as for fantastic four.

That ip is being absolutely buried.

You got marvel on one side pissing on it and distancing them self.

Then fox on the other side just green lighting films to keep the rights and hoping one day to make a movie that doesn't suck.

That brand has been butchered.

But neither fox or marvel seems to want to do business with the other :yeshrug:

Fox isn't interested in working with them. If they were there would be a Sony type deal in place.

At some point people will get tired of Fox's version of the X-Men. The last film had a huge drop off in box office number in comparison to the one before it. Fox's version of the X-Men sucks and Hugh Jackman is quitting anyway.

Eventually Fox is gonna take that deal when it's time to reboot.

At some point people are going to get sick of comic book films period.

They wont ever dissappear but it's not going to be like it is now.

Deadpool just made an insane amount of money.

Apocalypse was the 2nd highest grossing x men film.

Fox's version of x men might suck to YOU but it has plenty of fans.

You guys are living in a pipe dream.

It would take a bunch of flops in a row and fox being in a dire situation like Sony was to consider sharing the rights.

What's even wilder about this whole X-men thing is how much they could be using these characters to make a more legitimate social statement about issues like Black Lives Matter, and the increasing influence of the far right. How would the X-men handle a Trayvon Martin/Walter Scott type situation in the Marvel-verse? How would they deal with police or even other superheroes getting off virtually scot-free for murdering young mutants? How do they deal with the ignorant masses dismissing these injustices as the sort of thing only happens to "thugs" who "deserve it"?

( Not saying this to disrespeck Trayvon's name :birdman: Just making a point. Rest in Power :to: )

But instead, it seems like they enjoy having these characters spend more time at the throats of other superheroes instead of actually dealing with complex social issues like this.. It feels like the characters are spread out across 879273 billion teams, all of whom hate each other. At least the 70s/80s/early 90s comics had actually had some unity.
If anyone more current on the comics can chime in, are they addressing stuff like this? I know Cyclops was in full "by any means necessary" mode...

Before they killed him off :martin:

The other thing that bugs me out the catch-22 we've got here. Fox seems to be more interested in milking famous actors over getting the message out, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Disney play it safe and avoid addressing such a real issue if they ever got the rights back. We all saw how they did Finn :mjpls:

I feel bad for Stan Lee... he'll probably never see a proper Galactus or his first creations done right in a movie in his lifetime. Shame on Fox for butchering those F4 movies as badly as they did.

Spiderman films were still making solid profits. They weren't flops. They were doing better than X-Men movies.
