Demarco Murray has had great games in the league with our horrible oline and he too like Emmith isnt a speedster. Just grat vision, running between the tacklers, and toughness.

You undervalue the skills and talent of a true running back who isnt reggie bushing it all over the field. A great Oline goes a long way but you have to have the talent and skill to take advantage.

Having watched DeMarco Murrays every game for the past 6 years or so, he's not as fast as he was his freshman year of college, but he's still faster than Emmitt, he's a more physical back than Emmitt when finishing a run, he's better at improvising(which Emmitt never had to do), and is a better receiving back by miles.

Yes, you have to know what holes to hit as a back and have the vision, patience, but that Cowboys line opened some HUGE holes for Emmitt to average 4-5 yards a carry. If your o-line sucks, there's no way you can literally average positive yardage every play lik Emmitt did.

The D (where it's so cold)
so wait, the defense knew the Bills would run. The Bills only ran, and yet OJ put up ridiculous numbers and won 4 rushing titles?

You not even making sense at this point. Just be real and say you not rating OJ that high because you dont see a lot of him on NFL films anymore for.... umm.... other stuff. :mjpls:

"he did nothing flashy for me"

dude was breaking 70, 80, even 90+ yard runs and you just dismissed it because "its not flashy." :russ:

It wasn't flashy. And I have never said OJ wasn't a great rusher he's just not in my top 3. All the runningbacks mentioned have runs of 70 plus yards so it's not really separating OJ from AD, Barry or even Peyton Hillis in that regard. Barry and dikkerson did everything OJ did and did it in better more dominant fashion.

And rushing titles, dikkerson and Barry have them too and the same amount as Simpson. dikkerson has just as many as OJ and even got on in his rookie season, so again, OJ on equal ground with other great rushers comes up short.

You can call bias on the Marshawn claim, but Peterson's running style will be his downfall.

Also, I'd take Marshall Faulk over every RB listed so far if im building a team. Marcus Allen after him and LT after those 2

That's all I'm saying.

Faulk should be in this discussion somewhere too. Not the very top, but he's one of the best ever.

what does, "more dominant fashion" mean?

There athletic attributes were more on display when they carried the ball than OJ who only was superior in terms of raw speed. He was the fastest, but other backs like dikkerson and Barry made use of the entire field going left and right and in some cases backwards all in order to make defenders miss. Since they are using more than one skillset I would call that dominating.

Like, Lebron or Dirk could beat most players one on one with their speed and shooting alone, they're being great, but if they decided to utilize a post game in addition to the speed and shooting they are dominating. This is what (imo) I feel certain rushers have over OJ.

this is one of the stupidest things I have ever read on this forum. Im not trying to be a prick or anything, but this is stupid as shyt.

I figured you would mean something like yards per carried, yards after contact, yards from scrimmage, he had no open filed moves, or something else. I figured you would even say the stupid "well he didnt win rings" argument.

Instead you chose the even stupider argument that OJ didnt run backwards or run sideways. Running backs are supposed to go forward. They are supposed to go north-south, not east-west.

You really cant be taken serious in this conversation after using the "he didnt run east-west and backwards enough for me" argument.

What's stupid about it? Some of the greatest career defining runs were on busted plays, where going by your logic, the rusher should have ran forward and gotten tackled, instead they ran east and west as an improvisation to running where they are supposed to run. This obvious takes more use of skillset to see holes in the defense since the play is no longer going as planned and the runners are mostly on their own. How can you say having defenses chase you all over the field in vain falling all over themselves not dominating?
