1. I know that they are financially strapped, but I feel like these schools always find a way so I am not worried. A lot of people have to not do anything for these schools to shut down.
damn you're lost... :pachaha:

"always find a way"

Hanging on hope isn't a good way to run a business idiot. :stopitslime:

2. Schools wouldn't have homecomings if homecomings were not money makers. Just like they wouldn't hire expensive ass commencement speakers if they didn't think the speaker would become a regular donator to the school.
Do you know how much howard misses out on? Hell, most schools dont even have actual "official events" like that. A lot of the money is made by people having side ventures and events that siphon money off of what the main institution is doing.

I was the head organizer for my University's homecoming when I was in college. Trust, homecomings are BIG money makers, wayyy more than you're probably thinking.. Especially a school like Howard. I never said they relied on it. You just made it seem like focusing on homecoming was frivolous nikka shyt. I'm just pointing out how you are horribly wrong on that point considering ticket sales + donations + corporate sponsorships given at that time.

Watch.

Schools like this NEVER cut any of the obvious fat but instead just push for bigger and better "events" to keep up appearances.

They're gonna wish they hadn't blown all that cash on a one weekend event.
The money that comes through around homecoming time is :wow: I can imagine it's even :wow:-er for a homecoming like Howard's.

Yeah. its not...Ohio State :pachaha:

Again.

We're talking about an HBCU...not some bigger school with national recognition OUTSIDE of the black community.

Homecoming benefits the local businesses, if anything
exactly.

Dude is acting like Howard just makes all of that off of 1-2 concert sales, football games (which no one goes to), tailgating (again no money usually), and t-shirts and coffee mugs. :pachaha:

Yeah. Some people obviously cut checks.

There are some wealthy HU alums. I get it.

But businesses don't just THRIVE out of nowhere.

I can tell @DaChampIsHere didn't read the friggin article:

"Last spring, Morehouse had to furlough the entire faculty and staff during spring break because of budget issues related to drops in federal funding, especially these Parent Plus loans," said Schexnider. "If Howard and Morehouse, two of the most vaunted historically black institutions, are facing major challenges, you have to wonder what's going on elsewhere. It's not a pretty picture."

Wanna handle that for me?

Are the schools closed right now though?

So apparently, they found a way, like I said. :skip:

Most school funds come from the president meeting and greeting with big whigs and getting those donations, which is the epitome of "finding a way".

1. That's just what it is.

2. No HBCU needs the budget/income of an Ohio State because they operate on a much smaller level. You're arguing opinions and projections now buddy cause you have no idea what you're talking about. You said "I bet they got money for homecoming tho..." trying to be a smart ass when any SMART school would have money for anything that 100% of the time makes them more money. If you don't wanna argue that and want to change the subject to something else, you should have never talked about what you didn't know in the first place friend. :umad:

nikka.

are you fukking kidding me with a sentence like that?

is "Research in Motion/Blackberry" closed right now?

No...but their company is circling the drain... :pachaha:

"Scraping by" isn't "making it"

I'm starting to wonder how you spend your pay-cheques in your personal life.

Most school funds come from the president meeting and greeting with big whigs and getting those donations, which is the epitome of "finding a way".

You can't rely on that because when that doesn't come through then you're screwed.

You're losing.

1. That's just what it is.
Cop-out bullshyt answer :camby:

Bruh. You're the one who said HU probably makes its most money during homecoming

Tell me.

What is HU doing to make that money? :leostare:

I never said it made most of its money during homecoming. I said it's one of the biggest money making time periods when you factor in how much money is being made in that short amount of time, in the course of a week. Tuition is obviously the biggest, then you have yearly alumni donations and the money that the president and trustees raise

I'm not saying they make enough off homecoming to support the whole university. No university does. You specifically made a smart ass comment and didn't know what you were talking about. Point blank. Just the vendor price for a couple of vendor booths alone at a homecoming like Howard's could pay for all the costs of a whole event. Think about how much money is profit after that when you have like 10-15 vendors paying just at 1 event. That's not even including the money from tickets and corporate event sponsorships added on top of that

I went to a predominantly white state school and it was cheaper than this college.

On top of that who wants to look at black women all day?

Bill Cosby and Diddy should make something happen... One seems to care so much and the other uses it for his triumph stories. They worth a billi between the both of them.

What does that mean? Do you know what credit is my nikka? :pachaha: Them nikkas have a +$400 million endowment. You don't think they could pay it?

I owe a credit card bill right now. You don't deplete your cash flow for credit dumb ass.

Edit: (Outside of public funding) Every school relies on their pres securing and maintaining donations :what: You clearly have no idea how the college education system works. I've had discussions with university trustees/presidents/etc. about all of this shyt and you are wildly mis-informed bro.

Howard's main problem is money mismanagement as with any major HBCU (minus their hospital). Fix that and they are good. Gov may crack down, but they will always have students willing to flow tuition money in. Maybe that's why I'm not concerned in the least bit. Because I actually know what's going on instead of all of this speculation, which means I ain't fit for a discussion of nikkas who don't know what they are talking about. :ehh: Peace.
