Like the white schools are not ran by the same...:beli:
I'm ashamed of you Buckeye :to:
Difference is, the facilities at those "white schools" are top notch, and the schools arent losing accredidation.

And i have no issue with administrators ballin, even if it is with donated money, just make sure the quality of learning isnt compromised

Bingo.

It says a lot when the NBA is mostly black but they come from white schools...but HBCU sports are complete trash.

Resources are EVERYTHING.

I don't think Howard is anywhere near shutting down. If schools like Morehouse and Hampton, etc. are doing fine in these times, then I think they are fine as well.

They do need to make a lot of improvements however and I don't think the current president wasn't on board with the changes the board wanted to make, hence his resignation. So maybe that's what the woman was referring to because the school is losing its competitiveness.

I think money is an issue, but a "minor" one as with all HBCUs.

:pachaha:...I bet they got money for Homecoming though...:mjpls:
This comment doesn't make any sense considering that at ANY school (HBCU, PWI, etc.), homecoming festivities are one of the biggest money making time periods for alumni donations. Why wouldn't ANY school make sure their homecoming is on point?

You're COMPLETELY delusional.

Do you know how many HBCUs are hanging on a thread right now?

I know people at Howard that almost didn't graduate from the law school because the school had to temporarily suspend the financial aid to the students to make ends meet.

They're TIGHT over there.

The same schools you're talking about have already faced budget crises...including morehouse and hampton. I'm surprised hampton is really still around.

You're foolish.

Do you think HOWARD is making money from that shyt? The clubs? the parties? What is HOWARD making from that?

NOTHING in comparison.

Homecoming ain't bringing in the money they need to simply rely on homecoming. Thats the point. Most universities ENJOY homecoming income, they don't RELY on homecoming income. Big difference.

1. I know that they are financially strapped, but I feel like these schools always find a way so I am not worried. A lot of people have to not do anything for these schools to shut down.

2. Schools wouldn't have homecomings if homecomings were not money makers. Just like they wouldn't hire expensive ass commencement speakers if they didn't think the speaker would become a regular donator to the school.

I was the head organizer for my University's homecoming when I was in college. Trust, homecomings are BIG money makers, wayyy more than you're probably thinking.. Especially a school like Howard. I never said they relied on it. You just made it seem like focusing on homecoming was frivolous nikka shyt. I'm just pointing out how you are horribly wrong on that point considering ticket sales + donations + corporate sponsorships given at that time.

The money that comes through around homecoming time is :wow: I can imagine it's even :wow:-er for a homecoming like Howard's.

Most colleges / universities are becoming a joke, but HBCU's been a joke since the 90's. They suffer from the "African Dictator Disease". Just like African dictators, they try to lead by following the ways of the colonialists / oppressors greedy ways without truly understanding them and fail miserably. If they placed their efforts in creating Black excellence, and kept the focus on providing the finest education possible, they would be fine today. Filling seats with anybody with a federal loan, building glass palaces, lazy tenured professors, and "African Dictator Diseased" administrations.

There was a time when HBCU's like Howard provided an education that was better for blacks than white schools, but now, any young black person should go to their state school instead. I graduated college in 2004 and i know a couple people from high school who still going to HBCU's who havent graduated YET.
