I think it’s her being younger than them has something to do with it too

But to sell records you need stans
She has stans though. Same chicks who were going crazy over the SoundCloud tapes are going crazy over the album. The problem is it’s just them. Winning awards is supposed to bring in new - specifically older or/and whiter - fans. Nobody cared in her case.

I measure stans/popularity by how delusional they sound. For instance a lot of stans make their community sound like it’s some niche thing only a few prestigious people understand or are apart of. Kendrick stans will act like he didn’t go triple plat and only they listen to this “real” rapper. Nicki fans make themselves out to be some embattled resistance, fighting the slander hurled at poor Nicki. In HER’s case if you check twitter, her stans sound…pretty damn reasonable. Because unlike most artists she is actually an underdog and they’re kinda the exclusive group who only “understands” her lol. Normally stans want to make themselves sound unique when they really aren’t. In her case, they are.

I feel like that mystery woman shyt really hurts her career.

I realized it was a problem when my wife had a bunch of her songs saved to a playlist but didn't know who she was.
Yup. Idk why they tried to copy “The Weeknd’s” formula… huge mistake… now they’ll have to force it… look out for her in a high profile relationship soon

Of course shes a plant.

She's been signed since she was like 13.

This been known.

She was a child prodigy, long before she was 13 she'd already appeared on every major morning show. Perhaps she's a plant, but are you saying that every kid who gets recognition is a plant or do you actually have more evidence than that?

Funny thing is that formula didn't work for the weeknd. Breh could have blown up much sooner if he wasn't doing that shyt.

I don't know why anyone would want to follow that formula.

I mean … we can’t say it didn’t work lol. The nikka is a megastar. And you have other acts trying to mimic that exact shyt. Sure he could’ve blown sooner… but have is image/appeal was the mystery. Worked perfect

she's not a plant.... otherwise she wouldn't be with RCA, of all labels.

Here's the real problem: up until now, she's been releasing these 5-7 song EPs. The EPs only really work if you got a true smash or cult classic song. Did any of those EPs have songs like that? Nope. Yes, her first compilation got a grammy, but I'm sure Clive Davis pulled some strings.

The irony is that her mentor is Alicia Keys, one of the queens of RCA, yet you'd have hoped they'd have a duet on the debut too. But nope. I do wonder how not being able to perform live and create buzz at venues hampered HER's buzz at least for the debut album. It probably would have made a difference.

With that said, I have no clue how long this RCA contract is. But I think she needs a new team around her and probably a fresh set of producers to work with. Funny enough, most people will probably recognize HER for appearing on Khaled's We Goin Crazy joint.... the same song which you hear during the NBA Playoffs ad-nauseum. Speaking of Khaled, all it shows is how important that Roc Nation plug was in securing a deal with ESPN to play all his songs ad nauseum. His album can be (and probably was) awful, but he and Roc Nation accomplished their main goal and now have no incentive to actually make a great album.

Maybe HER would thrive with the Roc Nation plug, who knows......

EPs are not a problem if she dropped a full album 2 years ago it would do the same numbers and we'd say "she went album mode too early".

Mystique is a career killer in the IG era.
