MJW could be \ should be the black Statham. They both don't have any range. The only thing they got going for them is ladies find them attractive and they can play action roles.

I didn't pay to watch Statham driver around in the transporter movies or crank or Italian job or death race, or the bank any other movie where he drives. But MJW could play those exact same roles..:yeshrug:

Obviously consumers of Hollywood would rather see Statham drive around and beat up bad guys than MJW.

Dont try to act like Galafinakis is solely responsible for the success of that like Mel was with Passion and Apocalypto. Thats some ol fix the numbers shyt you trying to pull. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for that shyt. And let's be honest here Galafinakis alone aint pulling shyt by himself in a lead role. Hell he hasn't even topped 100 million yet with Will Farrell's help.
I dont give a fukk what Hollywood says Mel's contribution and career embarrasses Gal's.

Zack due date movie did 100 mill with a production budget of 65
Guess who his co star was tho Rdj :laff:

But I agree with the thread starter I wish Michael get some of those Jason Statham roles

Yes Mel did give us some dope movies but fukk em unless he produce a dope movie and throw us some black excellence

Colin Farrell he just got a new chance with Total Recall.

the guy in your avi.

All these guys were proven box office draws before they had a flop. That's not the same as Michael Jai White's situation. He was given his "big break" and the movie tanked.

As for the guy in my avi, his career was in the toilet before Pulp Fiction, true, but he was a star in the late 70's, early 80's. Tarantino cast him in a low-budget, independent, festival award bait movie that nobody thought would be the smash it turned out to be.

When was Michael Jai White ever a star? :skip:

I don't know who the fukk this is. :yeshrug:

And Statham's a midget. nikka made 6 of the same exact movies and you mean to tell me they cant find a role for my nikka MJW? A cat that actually knows martial arts and had one of the best choreographed fight scenes in recent memory.

i dont know his name either :russ:

but its the dude from friday night lights that played in John Carter and Battleship 2012

Yea he's a fukking horrible actor. I like Tim Riggins (FNL name is all I know him by) but he's a vapid, shallow fukkin mannaquein but he looks the part so they gonna continue to throw roles his way until he finds one that he kills like Chaning Tatum. 21 Jumpstreet finally was something good that he was involved in (even though Jonah Hill helped him.) Now this nikka getting help from everybody even made a female Showgirls with Mcconaughey that got hoes buzzing for him hard (no homo) now.
They even delayed the GI Joe sequel in order to reshoot his scenes and keep his character alive due to his current success.

c/s. remember when jet li first hit american main stream and was doin those b movie urban action flicks with dmx, anthony anderson and tom arnold? lookin back at it, i dunno why MJW only showed up in exit wounds and dipped after that.

those obviously weren't oscar worthy scripts but they along with similar shyts like kiss the dragon and the one, basically accomplished for jet li what all of them transporter type shyts did for statham: mainstream audience recognition and niche placement. I feel MJW should've made some phone calls and found a way to join them cliqued up rappers/comedians on romeo must die and cradle 2 the grave, since those were mainstream popcorn shyts that focused on his best attribute (fighting) but were black-centric in the actors and theme.

If he had been a part of those to show off more of his fighting skills and hopefully some hints of humor/charisma in the scenes with anderson/arnold... and then flipped it to see if he couldn't have joined jet li on some of those other projects that were more serious in plot but still the same genre of less acting/more fighting, who knows. :yeshrug:

exactly what Im saying

Hell when you think about it, Blood & Bone was the type of role Statham does.

All I'm saying is that there is a place for Michael Jai White. With his skillset, he's perfect for flicks like expendables, fast&furious, gi joe's, etc.

You got a bulked up Rock (Dwayne Johnson). MJW is like one of the few actors out there that looks the part of a formidable opponent.

Dude is 44 yrs old. I would like to see him get some more action work in before he gets too old.

Will Smith and Denzel are 2 of the biggest stars in hollywood.

That don't mean jack shyt. The exceptions are not the rule.

Denzel Washington himself has told multiple stories of the discrimination black actors and actresses face. The widespread discrimination in Hollywood is an open secret.

Lots of minority actors talk about it in interviews but nothing is EVER done about it.

Van Wilder cost $5 million to make and brought in $38 million
Blade Trinity $65m to $128m
Defiantly, Maybe $7m to $55m
Buried $2m to $19m
his movies make profits some of them good but most aren't run away successes but they make money

Stop....You know damn well nobody was going to see Blade Trinity for Ryan Reynolds. In fact one of the biggest complaints about that film is it focuses on his character too much.

Same goes for Safe House, the overwhelming majority of that films marketing had Denzel Washington front and center.

Because Wesley Snipes is just a veritable paragon of black acting right...:shaq2:

He was predominantly an action star, it ain't like he got accolades and acclaim from doing dramatic work. My point was simply that Wesley came along first and got alot of the type of work that a MJW could/would have gotten if Snipes hadn't been around.

Have you seen every film mr. snipes has been in? If you had, i cant imagine why you'd say something like this. His performance in Mo Better Blues is great. Acting along side Denzel. You wont see MJW doing that. Not that hes bad like that but snipes is just a better actor.

Yeah, Wesley Snipes is a very well respected actor and when given the right roles proves it. He just started doing action films and never looked back.

A lot of Black actors got seriously acting chops but never really get to flex them for various reasons. Ving Rhames is another guy that people don't realize is a very good actor (dude graduated from Julliard).
