Yeah, Wesley Snipes is a very well respected actor and when given the right roles proves it. He just started doing action films and never looked back.

A lot of Black actors got seriously acting chops but never really get to flex them for various reasons. Ving Rhames is another guy that people don't realize is a very good actor (dude graduated from Julliard).

One thing I've noticed is white people hype the hell out of the most dime a dozen average hollywood actor or actress, but black people find some way to downgrade and shyt on our own to the few doing it.

The only way a Black Panther movie would get made with the full backing of a studio and expectatioons of being a box office hit is if the character was to be introduced in an Avengers (or Iron Man) movie and allowed to shine with tons of cool moments in the flick before being moved to his own movie.

Marvel is gonna have to make a Black Panther film soon. It's already been announced as a film in development and more and more people are noticing that "Earth's Mightiest heroes" area bunch of white dudes.

I just how that when they do make a Black Panther film they don't sanatize Wakanda for the sake of sensitive ass white folk. Even in the comics, when white writers work on that character they be trying to make the character weaker.

Yea, black folks do go to the movies, tyler perry's success is indicative of that for better or worse. More so, audiences in general watch films with white leads... as long as the movie looks promising/amusing

and really, the same applies to films with black leads. red tails didn't do well but django unchained probably will... but why? they both deal with white racism towards blacks after all right? well, given tarantino's history and style with satire, django will prob give the vibe of being promising/amusing as hell even to those who don't give a crap about whitesvsblacks, racism, or history lessons.

i've said it in another thread, but the premise of a 'black panther' movie with a holier than thou afrikan ruler going around styling on cac's verbally, physically and intellectually... that may be amusing for us but for anyone else (white, hispanic, asian, indian, etc)... that shyt don't sound promising at all, not unless its satire or an over the top comedy like black dynamite or a tarantino flick

on the other hand, a movie like blade thats starring a c-list superhero (below characters like daredevil and black panther) pushed out 3 movies that did 131m, 154m, and 128m worldwide. And that's because the rebooted blade character (goin from a casually dressed black guy with simple wooden stakes to snipes's creation) and concept is appealing. just as it is for similar clones like the underworld movie series.

Hell when you think about it, Blood & Bone was the type of role Statham does.

All I'm saying is that there is a place for Michael Jai White. With his skillset, he's perfect for flicks like expendables, fast&furious, gi joe's, etc.

You got a bulked up Rock (Dwayne Johnson). MJW is like one of the few actors out there that looks the part of a formidable opponent.

Dude is 44 yrs old. I would like to see him get some more action work in before he gets too old.

Blood and Bone was dope and low budget. If it was Statham and some little chinese girl he was saving, oh wait thats in theaters right now. I mean if it were Statham period people would line up to see it and the villain wouldnt even have to be a named actor just a big tough guy that he beats up in the end.

c/s. remember when jet li first hit american main stream and was doin those b movie urban action flicks with dmx, anthony anderson and tom arnold? lookin back at it, i dunno why MJW only showed up in exit wounds and dipped after that.

those obviously weren't oscar worthy scripts but they along with similar shyts like kiss the dragon and the one, basically accomplished for jet li what all of them transporter type shyts did for statham: mainstream audience recognition and niche placement. I feel MJW should've made some phone calls and found a way to join them cliqued up rappers/comedians on romeo must die and cradle 2 the grave, since those were mainstream popcorn shyts that focused on his best attribute (fighting) but were black-centric in the actors and theme.

If he had been a part of those to show off more of his fighting skills and hopefully some hints of humor/charisma in the scenes with anderson/arnold... and then flipped it to see if he couldn't have joined jet li on some of those other projects that were more serious in plot but still the same genre of less acting/more fighting, who knows.
