Two things on this: Going through Something to Wrestle With right now and on the Mania 9 episode, Bruce said Vince's mindset for that event was they didn't need any celebrities because the wrestlers were the celebrities. That's telling.
B, on the Masked Man Show, someone said the company doesn't need a "top guy" anymore because there are just so many wrestlers up and down the card, and the company probably has already reached its apex.
So with both of those things in mind, they don't need to know what to do with anyone when they're hot because the company is the star. WWE is the star and the brand and no matter who fills the roles, Vince and co feel like people are showing up for the brand and will continue to show up. Their stock prices are rising, they keep selling out big events, and just got several bags from Saudi Arabia. They're making money hand over fists right now, in spite of themselves. Vince can afford to mismanage or misuse anyone on the roster. He can afford to fumble the ball constantly with Reigns because if you don't like him, there's a good chance you've got your favorites already and you want to see them. He's essentially in "too big to fail" mode right now and sadly, he may be right.
As long as there's no legitimate competition out there, and by that I mean a competition with a big bankroll that can infiltrate American tv on a major channel, he can get away with all of this. There will be no consequences. Even if everyone here who posts on TSC on the regular really wanted to drop the network, we all probably wouldn't because we love wrestling. More than the E, we love wrestling and there's so much damn wrestling on that network. It's why owning everyone's library is such a key move because even when we bytch and moan about the current product, there's shyt we want to see from the past and Vince knows he's the only game in town.
