What other way would have been better? He came back in a tag match with Shane McMahon and then a few days later was in a match with the World Champ.
According to some of these Daniel Bryan SuperMarks on this forum, here's how it could have been better:
1) Opens the show by beating Cedric Alexander & Mustafa Ali for the Cruiserweight Title
2) Enters the IC Ladder match and beats Miz, Balor, and Rollins for the IC strap
3) Gets put into the US Title match and beats Jinder Mahal, Orton, Rusev, and Bobby Roode
4) Becomes a sub for Kurt Angle and pins Triple H at Mania (again)
5) Turns Undertaker/Cena into a Triple Threat and beats both
6) Turns AJ/Nakamura into a triple threat and wins the Smackdown title
7) Hides in the crowd and has Strowman pick him to be his tag partner, and then beat The Bar by himself
8) Challenges Brock Lesnar after he beat Reigns a la Hogan at Wrestlemania X and beats Lesnar for the Universal Title
Even if all this happened, some of these idiots on here would still complain about Hunter, Vince, or Steph holding him down. I know these dweebs feel Daniel Bryan represents them as a Craft Brewery Tour guide who, despite his short stature, made himself a force in the business, but he is far from transcendent. Nobody is trying to cast Daniel Bryan as a lead, second lead, third lead, fourth lead, fifth lead, or a jabroni that appears as a dead body in a movie or television show. Kimmel, Colbert, and Fallon aren't demanding WWE to have him appear on their shows. The only people who think he's "transcendent" are midgets who lost the genetic lottery and need a hero they can believe in.
