I say this as a big fan and a pretty big defender over the years: The return is not poppin right now. Gotta call a spade a spade and keep it a buck about the whole thing. Right NOW, Daniel Bryan is just a dude. Now do we blame that on him, or do we blame that on the E? I dunno. I feel like WWE doesn't really even know how to book people well on purpose, and when they stumble upon it, that shyt gets fukked up most of the time.

Bryan shouldn't be "just a dude" and Asuka shouldn't be "just a chick". But Bryan was never gonna come back and be some crazy ratings needle mover. And if he was, it damn sure wasn't gonna happen on Smackdown. Right now, all we can really hope for is the matchups. Him vs. Joe, AJ (for real), Nakamura and Miz. But, they've put him together with...Big Cass.

It is what it is until further notice. We'll see exactly how they view his return soon enough. But yep. Lackluster so far.

WWE doesn't know how to capitalize on anyone's popularity. Rousey barely gets used, Strowman has been wasted, Daniel Bryan is being wasted in a feud with Big Cass, Rusev didn't get any significant wins until this week, and Sasha Banks is stuck in a cycle of pointless matches.

Two things on this: Going through Something to Wrestle With right now and on the Mania 9 episode, Bruce said Vince's mindset for that event was they didn't need any celebrities because the wrestlers were the celebrities. That's telling.

B, on the Masked Man Show, someone said the company doesn't need a "top guy" anymore because there are just so many wrestlers up and down the card, and the company probably has already reached its apex.

So with both of those things in mind, they don't need to know what to do with anyone when they're hot because the company is the star. WWE is the star and the brand and no matter who fills the roles, Vince and co feel like people are showing up for the brand and will continue to show up. Their stock prices are rising, they keep selling out big events, and just got several bags from Saudi Arabia. They're making money hand over fists right now, in spite of themselves. Vince can afford to mismanage or misuse anyone on the roster. He can afford to fumble the ball constantly with Reigns because if you don't like him, there's a good chance you've got your favorites already and you want to see them. He's essentially in "too big to fail" mode right now and sadly, he may be right.

As long as there's no legitimate competition out there, and by that I mean a competition with a big bankroll that can infiltrate American tv on a major channel, he can get away with all of this. There will be no consequences. Even if everyone here who posts on TSC on the regular really wanted to drop the network, we all probably wouldn't because we love wrestling. More than the E, we love wrestling and there's so much damn wrestling on that network. It's why owning everyone's library is such a key move because even when we bytch and moan about the current product, there's shyt we want to see from the past and Vince knows he's the only game in town.

Motherfukking this. I basically came back into type a variation of what you're saying here. This is the name of the game right now. They don't give a fukk and they don't have to. And even if you're not someone who cares that Bryan isn't poppin, this shouldn't be cool just because this mentality effects the whole damn product. Really, I think what we all want is for Raw and Smackdown to be exciting again, consistently and without insulting our fukking intelligence. Yep, its play fighting, but its something we're invested in and enjoy and we know what it's like when its dope.

To bring it back around to Bryan, I shouldn't have to look at my favorite wrestlers and be like "man, I wish they were in/back in NXT" because their main roster scripting has been subpar or hot garbage. Like there's talk of Gargano being a better Bryan than Bryan. And there's merit to that. But I do not want that man on Raw or Smackdown lol. There's something bugged about watching the "WWE minor leagues" and hoping your favorites aren't "promoted".

Pretty much. Punk was prophetic with that shyt. Vince will make money in spite of himself. Listening to something to wrestle with is eye opening. Vince has always been out to touch unless the shyt is so obvious. He didn’t think Austin was a good talker and didn’t think he was dynamic or that anyone would care. Fast forward two years later and Austin made him more money than he’d ever seen in his life. If that same guy was that out of it 20 years ago, in what universe is he more with it now? The product is what it is and we can either accept it and watch for the bright spots or stop watching altogether. Choice is ours.

Yeah you’re right. It’s craxy that nxt, the minor league show, is the better product. But to be fair, nxt has one core audience to appeal to. The main roster product has to appeal to everyone. Kids, adults, women, men, teens, etc. and when you try to please everyone there’s a good chance you’ll please no one

He was hot as the sun and they benched him for years to cool him off. They don't want this guy to be over.

I guess Bryan and Big Ass was supposed to set the world on fire :mjlol:

Big GOAT is the only interesting part of the feud :mjlol:

Just wait, TA will be coming out to CDQ in a matter of weeks, his reactions are already considerably less since his return. I’ve always said the “yes” chant was more over than him

Trust WWE to miss a tap-in by booking Bryan's return like shyt :russ:

Everything they've booked since Mania has been inconsistent and shytty. Fortunately the fukkery still entertains me - or at least, the reaction to it. Otherwise I would probably just go to sleep.
