dude, nobody's talking about the legal system or court cases.

it has long been RUMORED that the draft is rigged. it was a fair topic for Rome to bring up since N.O. winning the lottery is still fresh in fan's minds.

there have been 0 rumors that i've ever heard of Jim Rome beating his wife. it was a childish response to a question the commissioner didn't like. you've tried to turn this into something else 3 or 4 times now.

Again, Stern doesn't really care if Rome beats his wife. What part of "rhetorical question" do you not understand?

you are a simple minded fool.

It's more than just rigging, billions of dollars are involved but you are too simple to see it. Whether it is rigged or not doesn't affect whether I eat or not, but it is disappointing on some level.

And the only reason the NBA is second to the NFL is because of the MLB strike in '94. And the NBA is a DISTANT second to the NFL, despite how much Stern invested into building up Michael Jordan.

Oh my bad, i didn't realize you personally has so many billions invested in the game! Excuse me for questioning your passion on this issue.

If you don't like the lotto, what are you gonna do? Are you gonna stop watching games? Stern will only care if starts causing real damage to the league's credibility. People talking that they think it's rigged means nothing.
Okay...
I don't disagree with that, but that's a different point altogether. The issue we we were talking about was if the question Rome asked was fair or not.

If the majority of the fans who watch the games have question about the lotto be fixed then then the question must be asked. I don't understand how people can't see this is a fair question.

I really doubt the majority of fans have suspicion about the draft lottery tho. That's more a topic that die hard fans and media types care about. Most NBA fans couldn't tell you who their team drafted let alone what happened during the lottery. You'll see people on twiter say it's rigged because it's got to the point that the media says it's rigged so much that the defacto reaction is to say it's rigged no matter who wins.

I don't care if it's fair or not. It's a dumb question because Stern was never going to answer it. Like I said earlier, you think people would still be wondering who shot JFK if someone could just walk up to the CIA, ask them directly, and get a real answer? Stern's too smart to ever answer that question.

Maybe it's been brought up before; but why didn't Rome just reply, "I've never beaten my wife?"

Because Stern would most likely ask him to prove it. Then Rome would say "That's ridiculous, how do I prove I didn't do something?" and then Stern would say "Exactly

". Rome was aware of that, that's why he said that's not fair.

Again, all talk. No reporters are coming forth with info from someone working in the NBA saying the lottery is fishy.

My point was that people was talking about the Paul trade after the lotto.

i was addressing the logic behind "either way Rome answers he looks guilty", not someones rhetorical question. i've said that a few times now.

That's the thing. Do you think Rome thought that Stern would say "yes i rigged the lottery." He asked the question because his listeners wanted him to ask Stern. Could he have framed the question in a different way? Sure, but the question is not out of line at all.

Its a law tactic rome was smart enuff to avoid it since he didnt know how to properly respond. They called loaded questions Law schools use it as an example of one that cannot be asked in court.

They use it because there is no way to answer it and not come off as a wife beater. If you say yes, then that means you used to beat her. If you say no, that means you still beat her.
