Reading thru her timeline heres what I gather:

1. She was responding to Harry Belefonte's criticism of Jay Z for not using his fame to be an activists

2. A fan asks why can't Jay put out something like Nas-Untitled, the point she was trying to make is "that doesn't count becuz Stic Man and Jay E wrote all the radical/political stuff". Basically Jay Z writes what he feels and Nas uses other peoples ideas. Then says shes not impressed by "Daughters" either (kinda implying that somebody might have wrote that for Nas too). But she liked Distant Relatives (without mentioning how much of that album was ghostwritten).

3. Then that weirdo uses the Dream Hampton tweets as an excuse to writes his trash blog post about a phone call he got at Hot 97 from Jay Electronica himself. And obviously the guy didn't ask any follow up questions...he just started crying.

4. Hours Later Dream Hampton says she heard 6 reference tracks.

Basically Dream Hampton set this off basically to take credit from Nas for doing that album. Her point is "Don't criticize Jay becuz no else is any better". So she may not have a reason to outright "lie" but she is spinning the truth to boost Jay by discrediting Nas...just like we do here on SOHH/The Coli.

but she is spinning the truth

where do you think the truth spin on her part is if you don't think she's lying/has no reason to lie

yes, it does seem like an attempt to discredit nas...but if you had heard things from artists themselves like reference tracks done for nas...wouldn't you feel maybe he needs some discrediting after he vehemently denies ever using a ghostwriter?

Dream says she heard 6 reference tracks? She can't just throw that out there and not elaborate...smh at all of this coming about as a way for her to defend Jay against Harry Bellafonte :snoop: ...people start criticizing Jay-Z enough,we'll mess around and find out who put the hit on Kennedy and the truth behind the moon landing

"nikkas is still hatin’, talking that Nas done fell off with rhyming
He rather floss with diamonds"

yeah sure Nas is cynical enough to spit this on the intro of an album of that importance while having somebody else penned it for him...and even moreso having rapped it for him in a reference track like he was a vulgar Andre Young....

but on the real, keep hating, we're just gonna get another Nas classic thanks to this shyt

it's sad that yall cats don't understand how reference tracks are used in the music industry. People shop concepts all day. That's how semi famous nikkas get from check to check cause no one really wants them in the spotlight.

The fact that some of you are ignorant to the process of the music business (including the blog writer) is the only reason that this is even being brought to light.

Jay-Z had the whole NY State of Mind as a reference track but no one accuses him of using a ghostwriter.

It's a different game in the professional world.

I have a theory as to why she wrote this, and granted I could be reaching. I've never heard of this Dream Hampton until today. So I googled her to read her bio, and see some pictures. After seeing some pics the first thought I had was, she's mixed. Not that I have a problem with that either, but after considering that, and seeing her shyt on Nas' legacy for no apparent reason, the thread link below came to mind.

http://www.the-coli.com/booth/31926-nas-roses-if-she-mixed-possible-psycho-alert-goes-off.html

She caught feelings over that line. Just perusing some google search results with her name and Nas' name, I get the feeling that she was a fan. In the article in question, she states that LIG is only a "halfway decent" album which appears biased because even non-Nas-stans will admit it's a solid album. I'm under the impression that something in the album offended her, and it's quite possibly the biracial line. The conversations surrounding biracial topics is something dear to her heart as evidenced in the article below.

Mixed Race Studies » dream hampton rejects

Detroit native writer and filmmaker dream hampton rejects the concepts of a post-racial America and the tendency to self-identify as biracial or multi-racial.

“My mother is White. My father and stepfather, who both raised me, are Black,” she says. “I have never been mistaken for White.” She wants no part of what she calls the “anything-but-Black multi-racial movement.”

Says hampton, “The Census should simply have a ‘not Black’ box” so that those seeking an out from the perception of Black as “code for criminal and poor” can simply take it. She acknowledges that her acceptance of the “one drop” rule, or what scholars refer to as the practice of hypodescent—the adoption of the identity of the subordinate race—is “retro.” But it is this nation’s continued abuse of African Americans that compels her to do so…

By the way, I'm simply speculating, and probably reaching.

So all this from the breezy who wrote JayZ's book. Couldn't write a full biography because of the "fabricated stories of streets" smh. Are Hov and his minions that jealous?
