One thing through reading is I found that between Brits,Americans, and Germans there was almost a mutual respect for one another for the most part...The most surprising thing is Stalin was caught off guard. Stalin didn't trust anybody....not his people, not his generals, but he trusted Hitler to keep his word.
Russians caught Germans moving troops to the border and Germans told Stalin not to worry, they were just "training" for the war in the west.
George Carlin has an excellent podcast on WW2 Eastern front. The Eastern front made D-Day and the war on the western front, look like childs play.
Between the germans and Russians though was totally different,and Russians are on whole other level with the brutality...
Russia made sure to repay Germany...they went on a rape rampage when they occupied Germany after the war
