honestly this is a cool album for what it is. Both are old so if you were thinking the chronic or 2001 then jokes on you. As funny as it sounds, it's adult contemporary gangsta music

Could have made an adult contemporary gangsta music album that has a similar feel to "That's that shyt", "Boss's Life" and "Imagine" instead of what this album wound up being.

Everything was likely already in place from Jimmy he probably told them every sample they needed to use

The idea is for the promotion of this album to lend to crossover promotion for their drink

They want to sell their drink to all of America not just Hip-Hop audiences

It wasn’t what I expected but I wouldn’t necessarily call this a horrible album. I actually like the record with Sting and the beats sound crisp, maybe more of the tracks will grow on me :manny:

But putting that fat cac brick jelly roll on a cut? :scusthov: … can’t honor that

Actually think the album is good strictly from a sonic perspective. Just not want the audience want from Snoop or Dre.

Way too pop, and that problem get compounded by most of the hooks ranging from ass to forgettable. If you gonna go pop you got to have great hooks.

And if you gonna make this album and go a direction the audience not expecting, you really got to kill it. If it was equally mid but it was a 2001 rehash in content and approach, the reception would be better.

Been making a couple of Snoop / DPG playlists recently and skimmed through Missionary again.

Contrasted with that previous body of music, the Missionary album is just the antithesis of what it should have been.

I bet you won‘t see a lot of those ‘in the studio with Dr Dre’ types of photos from here on out.…Simply fuel for social media posts, and so I think that particular clout well is now dry.

I really appreciate all the great music from both Dre & Snoop over the years. But it’s why this was such a huge disappointment.

That because 2001 was so good that even a mid rehash would still be fun to listen to. Missionary is just forgettable.

Kush was really a step in the right direction. And then Dre pulled the rug on the accompanying album because he felt the reception was luke warm. He was too much in his own head for years and it really fukked his shyt up musically in the late stage of his career.
