they were pretty much neck-n-neck by the time aaliyah passed. mya was definitely hotter in 2001.
and you have to remember, aaliyah had a 4-year head-start on her. mya was playing catchup to most of those chicks.
lol.
since when was aaliyah ever on her own??
i can think of quite a few artists like that actually. in fact, somebody on your team was just gassin up mac dre in here. im gonna go back and upp it.
if somebody is campaigned for hard enough, it will happen.
r.kelly made aaliyah.
missy & timbo saved her.
you cant compare them to aaliyah.
for starters, they didnt have the same situation, and werent signed to the same labels. AALIYAH WAS SIGNED TO HER UNCLE, who is barry hankerson. a big dude in the industry and the only reason she even had a record deal. i luv how yall conveniently overlook that. some of these dudes have no clue but i know that YOU KNOW BETTER.
secondly, they werent in the same lane. aaliyah was basically a teeny-bopper in comparison to changing faces or sparkle. this is like comparing lil romeo's success to c-murder.
aaliyah would be nowhere near the k.michelle market. nowhere near. k.michelle is of that mary j/monica/keyshia breed.
aaliyah wouldve literally made that same exact autotune track with t-pain thats in the OP and then desperate attempts at crossover pop records.
she probably wasnt even 5'7.
most of the industry is like 5'5.
i feel you tho. especially when she was running around dressed like nwo-era sting. all she needed was the baseball bat. i bet she wanted to carry one. that wouldve been great.
im sorry but im tired of people acting like she was a dime too. i usually let it slide cuz its not relevant to the topic but enough is enough. she was just your typical overrated light-skinned broad. nothing spectacular there.
around the way girl?? she always came off like she was from a well-to-do neighborhood & family.
replaced at the top of what exactly? what in the hell was aaliyah ever at the top of??
claim that barely anybody gets propped up after death, then turn around and mention mac dre in the same breath as pac & big brehs.
I'm quite sure you know what "on her own" means. "Lady Marmalade", "Take Me There", and her collaboration with Beenie Man are not Mya songs. They are songs that feature Mya.
Mya was hotter in 2001? Mya didn't even put out an album in 2001. She didn't have a single out. You don't even know what you're talking about.
Aaliyah was not in the teeny-bopper lane. With that Romeo/C-Murder comparison. Firstly, C-Murder's albums were more successful than Romeo's. Secondly, C-Murder was considered a gangsta rapper vs. a child rapper.
K. Michele is not on the level of Mary J./Keyshia Cole/Monica. She's from a totally different era and it's not the same lane. She doesn't have anywhere near the fanbase that any of those women had.
Changing Faces and Aaliyah were label mates. Both were on Atlantic in '96. Yes, Aaliyah had Blackground backing, but Blackground was hardly a machine. At least it wasn't a machine that was greater than Jive or Atlantic.
LOL at you being tired of people acting like she was a dime. As if you can do something about it. It's an opinion. If yours differs, why are you so concerned about what other people think of another woman's beauty.
