for starters, they didnt have the same situation, and werent signed to the same labels. AALIYAH WAS SIGNED TO HER UNCLE, who is barry hankerson. a big dude in the industry and the only reason she even had a record deal. i luv how yall conveniently overlook that. some of these dudes have no clue but i know that YOU KNOW BETTER.
secondly, they werent in the same lane. aaliyah was basically a teeny-bopper in comparison to changing faces or sparkle. this is like comparing lil romeo's success to c-murder.

With that Romeo/C-Murder comparison. Firstly, C-Murder's albums were more successful than Romeo's. Secondly, C-Murder was considered a gangsta rapper vs. a child rapper. K. Michele is not on the level of Mary J./Keyshia Cole/Monica. She's from a totally different era and it's not the same lane. She doesn't have anywhere near the fanbase that any of those women had.
Changing Faces and Aaliyah were label mates. Both were on Atlantic in '96. Yes, Aaliyah had Blackground backing, but Blackground was hardly a machine. At least it wasn't a machine that was greater than Jive or Atlantic.
