NEWS FLASH: Actors, Act for money and since has made "2" 200 million dollar deals for DVD HOME MOVIES, the check don't bounce. The Landscape has changed, with the advent of HD and very capable Audio systems many families find the alternative of being at home with their families i.e. block buster night is more advantageous than going to a theater spending 5 to 10 bucks on parking and 10 to 12 dollars on a movie for 3 to 5 people. LionsGate understands this model and offered up the funds, and we must remember LionsGate is no small player.
What are your avenues of convenience, The on demand format, redbox, netflix, ect.. Straight to DVD movies no longer carries the moniker of shyt movies, and you will see the trend continue to move towards that model. For 1 it is a proven profitable model and that's all you need to know. If you pay close attention to Netflix, you will see a lot of accomplished actors are in the "oh shyt" I never seen this movie.
Just think of it like this. Remember or I don't know if you are old enough to remember the ABC/NBC or CBS Movie of the week? that budget is gone and a lot of A list actors were a part of it, this is no different.

He did get a second deal with lionsgate for 200mil. In fact he didn't even make 10 movies with the first 200mil deal. They went large on the Arnold and Rocky movie "The Tomb" with a budget of 70mil.

All his straight to DVD movies weren't from that deal. He's been in a few he didn't work on. I've seen people try to piggy back that one movie where he had cancer as one that he produced so it wasn't an L.

The cancer movie was outside the purview of the deal. In fact, it was what he called his passion piece, all financed by him 4 million dollars as a tribute to his childhood friend who died of cancer. This is why he went through the metamorphosis he did with the weight loss "i wanted to look just like him".

I done watched about 5 of his movies so far (Set Up, Twelve, Things Fall Apart, Freelancers, Streets of Blood, Blood Out). fukk outta here Fif. No studio is giving you 1/5 of a billion dollars to produce some bullshyt ass B-movies. I could see if the production quality on his films were on say the level of "Training Day, Belly, Waist Deep, hell...even Paid in Full". That would add up. But....all his shyt looks basic & low budget as fukk. As far as recouping that "$200 million investment", I cant even find dvd sales totals on any of those movies. You know those shyts are abysmal
