The issue is bigger than small businesses and modern economic practices. France as a nation has never fully recovered from World War I, at least from a mental and economic standpoint; it's been in a constant state of decline since then.

werent they even trying to tax people making 7 figures 75%?

Im a little scared this country is going to go in that direction.
That system sounds like a good deal for people who either dont believe in themselves/the possibility of success, or dont want to try anything.
We have a lot of that here (just read this forum).

So it isn't excessive state provision, but rather the capitalist economic base that is the problem? :dwillhuh:

When it comes to the root of the material issues humanity faces, yes. Excessive taxation (when used to fund social programs, etc.) is typically an effort to p*ssyfoot around the source of the issues with piecemeal reform to assuage working-class struggle. The logic of capitalism leads to negative economic effects when this approach is used. Usually "leftist" parties (I would consider them more "social democratic" than anything) implementing this will end up shocked when the economy falls a few years after they get elected, and then the right hammers them on poor economic performance and boot them out of office. Then countries are right back where there were before.

Our biggest issue IMO is that people with money have gotten away far too long with hiding their money and not paying taxes the same way the common man does. And of course the baby boomer gen and prior want to have their pensions and shyt but fail to realize it's Gen X and forward who are fitting the costs of it. And don't get me started on corporations who don't pay shyt.

Make everyone pay their fair share, kill all these fukin loopholes for everyone and let's ride.

I respectfully completely disagree breh. The rich have been paying taxes like everyone else, and the avg person gets way more tax breaks %wise than a rich person. Even factoring in payroll taxes rich people pay total tax rates 2-3x higher than the average person.

I know people with 6 figure tax bills who are basically living on the run... Im speaking from real life, not the safe zone of a liberal college campus

Do the people you know represent every small business in America?? Do all of these people own businesses? Why do they have tax bills that they don't wanna pay??

No, most small business owners pay their taxes

And nobody wants to pay their taxes, rich or poor... this is why the Democrats have gone out of their way to buy the poor and middle class with pointless tax breaks like the child credit and the mortgage interest deduction. Naturally though its easy to demonize people you don't like for doing what everyone does or wants to do.
