At first it wasn't like that. When he first came down to NC he did an album in a few days with 9th Wonder, Khrysis, and Illmind on production. Then he did that Cloud 9 thing with 9th Wonder. Around The Salvation and Live From the Tape Deck IMO is when his lyrics really started getting super coded and harder to follow. I have a hard time understanding a lot of what he means now, and The Salvation took me a lot of listens to pick up on most of it.

Here are some older more straightforward joints of his (about 10 years ago) for reference:

[Insensitive]

This album and it's musical sensibilities are right in line with what
I liked from Kendrick and it's a logical follow up to "A Dream Deferred".

It incorporates that Jazz, Funk and Soul in a way that doesn't feel heavy handed and
it serves the music.
In short :
The production on here is fukking nuts.

I think this will wind up being my second favorite album of the year right after TPAB.
TPAB, Music for my friends, Tetsuo & Youth,The Good Fight and The Album About Nothing
show what modern Hip Hop is and can be.

I think I'll write a more detailed write up on the album and post it in here later.
